1 out of 5 eggsWireless Does Not Work

Pros: Prints out lovely system status and diagnostic pages. I've had to print a lot of them trying to debug this printer.

Cons: Wireless connectivity does not work. This printer has a problem correctly handing wifi passphrases, and this appears to be a fairly widespread problem HP is choosing to ignore:

Other Thoughts: Placing the printer alignment sheet on the scanning bed to perform alignment was a pretty nifty feature. Too bad it's the only positive experience I've had with this printer

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Linux Support and 2400 DPI 8.5x11" Scanning

Pros: I will admit that the main reason that I purchased this printer was due to the scanner contained within this unit. It's capable of scanning at 1200 DPI (2400 DPI software-enhanced) which makes this exceptionally vital for high quality scanning of documents. I simply opened Simple Scan, adjusted preferences to 1200 DPI, hit scan and within a minute or two it had scanned a document in such high quality that you can't tell the difference between the original and the scanned version after printing the scanned document.

It also works amazingly well with Linux and the GNOME Desktop Environment, which automatically added/configured the printer as soon as I plugged it in without needing to install any additional drivers. That's one of the things that I love about Linux in regards to printers: plug it in and it just works -- especially HP printers. Toss out that driver CD into the trash if you're using Linux because it's not needed.

Cons: The only thing I dislike about the unit is that it's not a CISS printer and it requires the usage of tri-color ink cartridges. CISS printers are far more economical than either laser or cartridge inkjets as they feature ink tanks on the side that can be refilled with ink bottles without needing to open the printer up to replace a costly cartridge which adds electronic waste to the environment. As a result, I'll give it 4 stars instead of 5. It's great, but it's not perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

Pros: I bought this for my grandma for Christmas and she really likes it. She's technology illiterate, so it speaks volumes that she has little trouble making copies on this, as well as using more advanced features, like blowing up an image, for example.

Cons: It felt pretty cheap as I installed it, and I kind of suspect it will die within a year, but we'll wait and see.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for your buck!

Pros: Bought this based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and I have not been disappointed. Easy to setup, aesthetically-pleasing design, and incredible value. There are a lot of inferior printers out there (many of which cost far more), but you won't regret purchasing this one!

Cons: None, whatsoever.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good print quality......WHEN it prints......

Cons: Can't get it to print certain web pages with info I need.

Other Thoughts: Maybe my printer has a problem, but I set it all up... ran HP software and printed some stuff. After 30 days.... I can't get anything to print? It says the printer has an error? I went through and re-did all the connections... passwords... start from scratch. No good. I will get a different brand from now on. Not happy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Quick setup (Printed an alignment sheet, setup wireless connection, added it as a printer to the computers, and it just worked).

Just works.
Did I mention is works without turning it off and on like 50 times? (Printers are the devil) This one is great though.

Cons: A bit spacious. It takes up over half my dresser haha.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat features - Awful paper handling - Don't bother

Pros: Nice design, very low profile (though it has a large footprint). Several handy built-in print function for printing thing sans-computer (calendar, graph paper, etc)

Cons: This printer was great initially, but had a progressively worse time picking up special paper after a month of use (card-stock, labels, etc). By the 6th month, it was removed from service because it could not even reliably pickup regular multi-purpose paper. Would not recommend.

Other Thoughts: There is also the misleading model number of "4500." There was a fairly popular OfficeJet 4500 series a year prior to this. You'd think this was a direct replacement for that printer given the model number, but you would be mistaken; as it does not even use the same cartridge. This sure fooled the user of the printer for which I write the review, because she bought it thinking it was the same. Now why would HP give another printer the same model number as a discontinued popular model? Hmm....

There is a good reason so many of these went up on Woot as refurb.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Printer yet

Pros: Fairly quick and easy to setup, slim design compared to the old HP printer it replaced, dual printing is awesome.

Cons: not a fast printer but it gets the job done

Other Thoughts: I haven't experienced any paper jams yet, like some of the other reviews have mention.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Setup worked without a hitch
Lots of features you didn't know you were getting
Solid build (so far)
NO touchscreen (buttons ftw)
Multiple ways to connect
Auto-discovers from Android devices on the same wireless network

Cons: I've not found any yet

Other Thoughts: This is the only printer I've ever actually felt like it was a quality device. The last several printers I've had from various brands were all just throw-away devices it seemed. This machine gives the impression that some engineers did some good planning and achieved something pretty nice.

5 out of 5 eggsBeast Mode Printer, love it.

Pros: Has everything I need in one single printer

WiFi printing makes owning a computer upstairs a literal breeze

Flips the pages for you, also great color quality / contrast on draft. Literally have no reason to use anything over draft quality.

Very efficient with ink

Love the auto off feature, and fast printing

Cons: Can't even think of one...

Other Thoughts: Works great with newer routers such as ARRIS, you'll have to work with through IP instead of hostname most of the time (depending on ISP) but no connection drop-offs AT ALL.
