2 out of 5 eggsFast Shipping from the seller - Poor explanation of proprietary filament requirements

Pros: Solid device, especially for the price. It worked well with the provided filament.

Cons: You *cannot* use third party filament without jumping through hoops or hacking your printer. The proprietary filament used by the XYZ series will cost you at least $27 per KG. Off brand, generic or self manufactured filament can easily cost $6-$12 per KG.

My first major project with this printer would cost me $450 in proprietary materials.
If I buy a printer that allows me to supply my own filament, the project will only cost me around $140. This was a no brainer.

I'm not happy about paying a restocking fee or the costs to return ship, but losing $100 on this purchase will still save me hundreds in the future.

Other Thoughts: You will spend less on the printer itself but the cost of supplies (mainly filament) will cost you way more.

I would only suggest buying this printer if you do not plan on making many items. It did work quite well and I had absolutely no problems with it. I don't want to give the impression that this is a junk machine. I'm simply pointing out the massive issue with their filament policy.

5 out of 5 eggsJunior

Pros: It does a GREAT job printing, easy to setup, and runs very quietly.

Cons: Support on the 800 number absolutely sucks. All they can ask is what is your ticket number. Like talking to the wall.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this if you are the savey. If you need help good luck??

2 out of 5 eggsok for basic prints

Pros: It prints.
Looks cool.
Reasonably priced.

Cons: Smudges plastic around.
If you go with their instructions, prints will pull up at the corners a lot.
No detail work.
No heated print bed.

Other Thoughts: I got this printer as my first 3D printer. I spent about 5 hours making my first 3D model to throw at it. I sent it to the printer via SD card, and watched my creation take shape. 5 hours later, as I printed using .1mm settings for max accuracy, I found my part mostly how I designed it. I had a couple slots in it that were all smeared around, so couldn't really be saved. The inset portion on the back had valleys going through it where the plastic had smeared and rolled around. The nice, crisp, squared 1mm cutout was rounded in on itself from where the printer couldn't properly step. After a few more revisions and prints, I've given up on detail work. If my printer is defective, as I believe it to be, then it's just lying about the specs.

I feel you could reliable print out square sided boxes, or square sided trays... Anything with no actual detail. Even then, try to watch out for plastic smudges.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy Setup

Pros: Nearly plug and play. Took little time to set up.

Cons: Still getting the hang of how much base is required in an object to have the printer head not drag the parts of the base together and make a big old mess rather than the desired print.

Other Thoughts: Larger objects with wide bases appear to be easiest to print and come off without a glitch.
