what program do you use to design your creations?

I use thingiverse on the internet for a lot of my projects and if you go on youtube and search chuck hellebuyck's electronic products. Chuck does a lot of 3D printing and show you some free programs to use and how to use them.

Question 2

this indicates abs printing but all other websites indicate abs filament and pla filaments. whats the difference with this model 1.0?

From what I understand all FFM 3D printers that XYZprinting produces can use both ABS and PLA plastic. The differences between the models are:
1.0 has 1 extruder
2.0 has 2 extruders
1.0 all in one has 1 extruder and a scanner. 
This means that the base 1.0 model has the largest print volume, the all in one have slightly less volume and the 2.0 model will allow you to print in 2 colors at the cost of 5cm of width on the print volume.

Does this product come shipped with a cartridge of ABS plastic filament or do I have to order some when I purchase this printer?

Is the XYZ software still a drawback for the printer? If so is it still possible to use a different firmware? I'm reluctant to purchase because of this single issue.

The newer printers cannot be flashed to an older firmware. They changed the model slightly, and modders haven't figured out how to make this version accept a firmware rollback. That said, you can still do some interesting things with this printer as-is. By blocking the XYZ software at the firewall, you can keep it from updating and leading to a potential problem with future versions that has been known to brick your printer if their servers detect a "malformed" serial key on the printer cartridge. You can buy a cartridge resetter kit that allows you to convert a cartridge into a "dummy", and trick the printer into thinking you have a factory cartridge installed. By doing this, and then feeding any spool you want into it, the printer will use any plastic you can buy, and doesn't require a firmware change. Also, there are guides online for how to use slic3r for your GCODE generation, convert it into a 3w file(native format for this printer), and give you full customization of your prints. Without modifying ANY software or firmware, I am able to use slic3r and any plastic I want with this printer.

Cubic inches per cartridge?

If you are talking about the plastic that us used for printing, they are measured by weight and they are typically .6Kg and 2.2Kg. I used the started plastic (plain white) and it was the smaller .6, it lasted quite a while. I built several small and several large projects before it ran out. From now on I am only purchasing the larger spools since I dont want to run out in the middle of the build.

I am looking for a printer for cosplay type renders, is this a printer that I can utilize for that? Or would you recommend a different platform? I want to make full sized wearable costumes from what is printed. Thanks in advance.

This is a great printer for its price and its build volume. I use my printer for different cosplay events. With this printer you can print 200mmx200mmx200mm. If you are able to print the costumes you need with the build volume, the price can't be beat. The only other printer I would recommend is an ultimaker 2. With an ultimaker you can make larger objects, but it is a lot more expensive.
