4 out of 5 eggsUpdate!

Pros: Soundblaster! Usually good stuff.

Cons: Soundblaster! You don't have a choice.

Other Thoughts: Fixed my slowdown issues by checking setting and moving "crystalizer"? to on, and moving to digital. Seems fine. Space cadet?

3 out of 5 eggsProblems?

Pros: Only 3! restarts to load properly.

Cons: Kind of limited in sound choices now adays.

Other Thoughts: Bought to fix a prob in win7 pro 64bit with sounds slowdown/skipping. Got VERY Nervous when the card looked VERY similar to the sb live 24bit it was replacing. Sound is much better. The slowdown still occurs but is much less frequent. Still very annoying.

1 out of 5 eggsNo what you hear (sound mix)

Pros: None with W-7.......Will not take being forced to buy new card.I know they came out with Newer Card that does it all but I will buy from another company after 10 plus years of loyalty to this company...I am dissapointed in their choice to not update drivers for W-7......Look at their site and you will see old drivers...........works Gr8 for xp but not in 7...Depends on what you want to do with this card...................Works fine if all you do is surf web and play video or music................will not do recording work.

Cons: wont give you what you hear (sound mix )in windows 7 32 or 64.......

Other Thoughts: this card works well with windows xp for sound record work in studio. Will not in w-7 any flavor. It will enable playback so its not useless front panel conection works .This co. released drivers for the audigy cards(older) for play what you hear (sound mix)W-7-32 and 64...........but from what Ive read and seen on the web about the xfi cards they will not release an updated driver for these cards and some folks have owned them for 3 years or less and now they get left out i if they try to do sound work with W-7.I do studio work at home with personal computer and found out my old audigy card works Gr8 with W-7 play what you hear(sound mix )Im also a computer systems analysist for a major firm and fellow co-workers have found out the same things I have about this card and the xfi cards when switching over to windows 7 from xp.....It only plays sound thats all you will be able to do...Until someone with this co. figures its better to keep happy customers than force them to buy another card

3 out of 5 eggsdoesn't support "What U Hear", yuck!

Pros: Sound quality is excellent, supports EAX effects etc.

Cons: Doesn't support "What U Hear" recording, YUCK!
The only reason I bought a new card is for "What U Hear" recording and "Line IN" for my guitar, and turns out this card doesn't support what u hear!

Other Thoughts: A good soundcard for a decent price, but don't buy it if you plan on doing "what u hear" recording.

1 out of 5 eggsX-FI Card ???

Pros: Most current Legacy drivers from creative.com installed ok. Comes with a nice sticker, pretty shiny box ? Other than that none!!!

Cons: Not a real x-fi card, doesnt use real x-fi drivers, sound is extremely horrible. My azailia motherboard audio sounds 100% better in everthing....No adjusting sound in any way including bass + trebble... WHAT GIVES? If you like barebones bottom of the barrel sound cards this is for you.

Other Thoughts: A very low sucker punch from creative !!!!! :( Got Refund + free shipping back to new egg. I would not pay .99 cents for this card, totally useless.
Thank you .....

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a Hit!

Pros: Works flawless! CD installed just fine for me ... but do check online for updates! You'll like the improvement! All-in-all GREAT sound card!!

Cons: None to tell at this time.

Other Thoughts: To all that have an issue with the card, read the directions before you think you know what you're doing!!

3 out of 5 eggsMarginally Acceptable

Pros: The down=loadable drivers didn't crash my system.

Cons: As other reviews have said, throw away the driver disk unless you're nostalgic for blue screens and unbootable systems.

Other Thoughts: Needed to free up my PCIe X1 slot for a larger video card, so replaced my ASUS XONSAR card with this one. After installing the drivers from creative support, it works OK. Compared to the ASUS card, the sound is kind of "tinny" and hollow, but generally acceptable to me.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Audio Output

Pros: This card came with front panel port as well as aux. Worked out of the box for Ubuntu 9.10. Came with nice sticker..lol

Cons: Sound is not top end, mid-range if anything. Wish it had some RCA outputs. Front panel port sits farther into the card..towards the middle. This is not a huge deal, but was a pain due to that fact i had to mount it upside down.

Other Thoughts: I have to say the card is great if your not looking to spend alot. My main goal was to find a sound card that worked out of the box For Ubuntu. I hooked the card up and only change that had to be made was selecting the card under sound preferences. If using Ubuntu be sure to disable on-board card from preferences. I noticed when i did certain things it wanted to use on-board. Disabled it and now the card is its primary sound.
