Pros: Thanks on the driver info dude!

Cons: None!!!

Other Thoughts: Yea! More people should visit forums more! Lot of folks know how to solve these type of issues with Creative drivers etc. BTW This is a great card and I've had no issues with it...........

5 out of 5 eggsEnough with the user-error bad reviews

Pros: This card has done me nothing but good. Yes, the average PC user seems to have a problem getting it to work with Windows 7 and especially the 64-bit platform. If these users had spent 5 minutes searching on Creative's OWN forums, they would have found Robert's solution dubbed "PAX" Performance Audio Xeleration which is a suite that he had compiled of all the newly released drivers that are compatible with all OS's. That suite eliminates the noise and crackling most people are talking about. This is NOT a HARDWARE issue, its merely bad driver SUPPORT from Creative. An issue that has already been resolved by another individual. The card is now 100% compatible with Vista and 7 64-bit FYI.

Cons: Wish Creative wouldn't ditch their good products like that. Extremely disappointed with you Creative. I'm just happy I picked the last good Audio card you made.

Other Thoughts: I know this item is deactivated but it pops on Google so I figured someone might read this and it will give him a better idea of what is actually going on here.

4 out of 5 eggsMust have got lucky!

Pros: Everything worked from the start! I admit I was kind of worried when I ordered this because of the bad reviews from people using Windows Vista (my system details below). Mine worked flawlessly from the word 'go'. And it blew my ears back when I first started some music through my sound system. Man this thing sounds great!

I love the front panel connectivity the drive bay unit offers. I can plug my 1/4" guitar instrument cable right into the front and 'BAM!', instant electric guitar.

The sound is so CLEAN too! No wierd noises or 'pops' or loud 'hiss' like in some of your other reviews.

I always wanted one of these with the drive bay and I can't believe how inexpensive it was. Doing business with is ALWAYS a pleasure.

Cons: I kind of wish there were more connections on the sound card itself, or more to the point, on the BACK of the computer. Preferably some of the more permanent type connections such as the digital in-outs (SPDIF), or maybe a line input. You're forced to deal with cables sticking out the front of your computer, especially in 7.1 surround where speaker outputs use up all the rear connections. If you are in 2.1 or 5.1, you have a little bit more flexibility, but still no SPDIF on the rear of the card.

Also, internally, the ribbon cable connecting the drive bay unit to the sound card is definitely a real 'con' for people needing full air cooling capacity.

Drive bay connection to chassis makes sound card more vulnerable to static discharge from user.

I would DEFINITELY buy this unit again, regardless of these little flaws. It is simply AWESOME!

Other Thoughts: My system:
Intel Conroe E6700 processor
4GB Geil DDR2-800 memory
Asus P5BVM-DO motherboard
Creative Labs X-Fi Fatality Champion sound card
Logitech 400 Watt 7.1 sound system
eVGA GeForce 8600GTS 256MB video card
Maxtor 500GB sATA hard drive
Sony Lightscribe 20x DVD burner
450W Antec power supply
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit

I can't believe I bought a sound card with 5 names.

I have noticed a far lower lack of general computer knowledge among people having trouble with these, as opposed to the generally higher knowledge level among people NOT having problems. In other words, the smarter you are, the less problems you will have.

2 out of 5 eggsCr@p

Pros: none...

Cons: everything, unless you are running XP with analogue 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound there is absolutely no reason to own one of these

Other Thoughts: I remember when a sound card was the glue that held together your gaming is sad to see a company like creative put out this drivel.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: I own the original Live! Platnium 5.1 series card and the X-Fi was the upgrade. I dont regret it. Excellent card. Im involved with music recording and broadcasting and this card is the best you can get for your home studio. Low latency allows you great live recording using KORG padKontrol and Alive software. Comes LOADED with tons of programs for MIDI interaction that makes you go... WHAT?!... Anyway, BUY THIS BAD BOY! is worth every penny.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Using it on Windows XP Professional SP3. No issues at all.

2 out of 5 eggsCreative just isn't that great

Pros: It has a lot of features, sound quality is decent.

Cons: Creative has such a hold of the market for these types of things that they really have not put much effort into raising the quality of these things. The support is bad, the drivers aren't very good, and the quality isn't what you should be getting for the price.

Other Thoughts: Good luck. Each Creative sound card is a mystery of problems, no one the same as the next. If you get lucky to have one without issues then great.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsoloutly the best sound card on the market!

Pros: Produces the best music and game sounds I have ever heard. The face panel looks awesome and is extremely useful when using a microphone or headset. Has alot of ports for alot of versatility.

Cons: This card doesn't like my Logitech headset and I have to have the microphone plugged into my motherboard instead of the card but it's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I use this card with the Logitech 5.1 speaker setup with the 505 watt sub. This combo produces some amazing sound, especially with games and movies (Sounds better than the theaters :D).

1 out of 5 eggsNo 5.1 support with Receiver

Pros: None. I'll be removing the product and going back to the mediocre onboard sound and this will be a major improvement.

Cons: Driver support is non existent, features are crippled by bugs or even disabled in the drivers code! I bought this card to finally get some 5.1 sound out of games on my Vista machine and after buying the card, spending hours on the Creative site, buying all their cables I still do not have surround sound.

I have however inherited a mouse pointer freezing issue since installing the sound card. The mouse pointer randomly freezes for up to minute (most often a couple seconds) and does so every few seconds. MADDENING for gaming, particularly fast pace games such as FPS or realtime strategy games.

Other Thoughts: As an avid customer of Creative products since 1993 I'm deeply disappointed in this product and the total lack of decent support has fully convinced me to avoid their products in the future. Creative has even taken their Forums offline due to the high volume of complaints people were logging on the site!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Lots of features
The remote is ok so far - have to work out some querks
I upgraded to this from my original Audigy card and this is basically that on supper steroids. So far all the features of the original are there, and then there's so much more (and it's cheaper than my original card was)

Cons: The remote skip forward, and skip backwards doesn't work with Media Source so far as I can find. The remote volume doesn't change the center channel some times. Neither of these really deserve a 4 star rating, so I'm giving it 5 stars.

Oh and put it in Movie mode when you're watching movies. I had it in game mode for "I am ledgend" and you can't hear what any one's saying, but the special effects rock in that mode.

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom 9850BE w/ Zalman 9700 Cooler
ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
Creative X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty
WD 300GB 10000 RPM VelociRaptor
