avoid for digital connections
- Pros: A nice upgrade from my Audigy. Has a nice home theater-esque breakout box. Easy driver installation. Appears like a top quality product. Hardware acceleration and on-board memory are a definate plus.
- Cons: If you are using this to play games on a home theater system, or with digital speakers, avoid this sound card. After several hours of research before and after purchase, I was told by Creative themselves that this product does not support surround sound through optical/SPDIF. This was the main reason I purchase this product, and was very disappointed I was only getting 2-channel audio!
Switching manually between "entertainment, game, and audio creation" mode in their software was a hassle and often forgotten.
- Other Thoughts: Overall, if you are looking for strictly a music creation/encoding or movie-only viewing sound card, this is the card for you. The break-out box is huge and looks nice in the component rack for home theaters. Avoid if you plan to use optical out for gaming. It is unsupported - and undocumented - by Creative Labs themselves. I returned mine because of this. Do not go through the hassle like I did.
Music to my ears...
- Pros: The card by itself produces some of the best sound I've heard in a long time. And the effects to emphasize clarity, base, and dynamic ranges of a speaker set, and you have yourself a home theatre grade sound system in the makings.
- Cons: I had no trouble installing this device. The software even works with Windows Vista 64-bit.
- Other Thoughts: If you're a serious gamer with a lust for hearing every sound that comes out of your gaming experience, if you're into movies, or an audiophile, this is the card for you.

So far so good
- Pros: Nice sound, nice looking.
- Cons: The DIN port is terrible. If I use it to control the volume of my Creative speakers, the sound becomes very low. Also functions offered by the creative software are so limited.

WOW!!!
- Pros: I was a little scared getting this based on some reviews here. However, I was greatly suprised by the functionality of this entire set. The sound board can mix and record channels coming from ANYTHING going into it. There is also cool effects you can add to your voice or guitar, a karaoke maker/player, and a MIDI program which has many different instruments. The sound adjustments it advertises are actually noteworthy too. They do add quite a noticeable difference and really do almost make it sound like a proffesional recording.
- Cons: It is true.....no REAL surround sound through optical or coaxial SPDIF out. You would need speakers to connect directly to sound card for surround sound. My remote doesn't seem to function properly but might just be me. I haven't really put a lot of time into figuring it out since I have the control box right at my side.
- Other Thoughts: AWESOME sound card and input system!!! A great buy!
WOrks Great in Vista 64 bit and WIndows 7
- Pros: This card is top shelf and it still has What-u-hear that the newer cards no longer have. Installed teh card new drivers detected and all went well. Installed in seconds and great playback sounds and also use it for vocal recording...COULD NOT be any easier

- Other Thoughts: Us it with a AMD Phenom II 965 X 4 processor no issues and and MSI AM3 mobo..Works great with Vista Ultimate 64 bit as well as Windows 7 Ultimate
