5 out of 5 eggsGood for Music, OK for other stuff

Pros: Noticeable improvement over on-board sound.

Really shines while listening to CD, DVD or other higher quality audio files.

Crystalizer adds nice effect.

Cons: Bloatware. Do not download or install anything expect the driver.

Other Thoughts: Others have noticed an increase in cpu usage while using this card. Playing the same mp3 file in WMP, here are my results:

Onboard audio - 3-5%
X-FI GO - 4-7%

As you can see there is a slight increase in cpu usage. However I have never noticed or "felt" a difference during normal operation. I even game with this enabled and don't notice lag or a drop in FPS. This probably depends on your specific setup and CPU.

Games sound good while using this card, but I never really noticed 3D or surround sound.

I like this card, but I only find myself using it while purposefully listening to music with a good set of headphones or speakers. If you like to sit back and listen, then grab this card. If you are gaming or watching stuff online, you probably won't notice a huge difference.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly great!

Pros: I initially bought this device mainly because it was a bargain ($20 after a $20 MIR), and it was usable across multiple computers. I don't have a dedicated sound card in my desktop, but I'm not that terribly picky about pristine audio quality (I'm no audiophile), and my existing setup sounded decent as was, so I didn't buy into the deal for much more than the "good deal" factor.

Anyway, I installed it on my machine, and after messing a bit with the driver settings, I thought "hey, this sounds pretty good". The audio output was extremely crisp. It was when I switched back to my desktop's integrated audio to compare that it really hit me: I'd previously been listening to muffled audio for the longest time, and I can't stand it anymore after hearing this device. There really is that big a difference. That probably isn't surprising to many, but I guess my point is that this device really does deliver, especially for people stuck on dinky integrated audio.

Cons: This device can use a non-trivial amount of CPU. For example, my ASUS eeePC 1000HE constantly runs at around 20-30% CPU usage while playing music through this device. My desktop system running an Intel C2D E6600, on the other hand, shows negligible (~1-2%) CPU usage (and I'm not even sure it's the device causing it -- could just as well be the music player, for all I know).

It's worth noting that this behavior is technically inherent to USB audio devices. It's for that reason that I hesitate to put this under "Cons", but it definitely is a drawback that that potential buyers should be aware of before plunking down the cash.

Other minor issues:
- The shiny surface is easily scratched.
- The included earbuds aren't great, but they suffice for casual listening. Certainly won't be replacing my Sennheiser CX400 though.

Other Thoughts: The 1GB memory stick feature is useful for toting the drivers around. I personally wouldn't really use it for much else, as I already have other portable drives. The read-only switch is interesing though, and isn't something you normally see in most memory sticks. Helps prevent accidental deletion, and accidental malware infection.

For reference on what sound setup I'm testing against:
- ASUS P5B-E motherboard
- harman/kardon HK395 2.1 speakers

Keep in mind that not all integrated audio boards are created equal, so this device may not necessarily be an upgrade for all buyers. That said, I'm very satisfied with this device so far, so if you're looking to improve your audio experience and can find a good deal on it, I would highly recommend the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Device

Pros: Just got it in the mail earlier and after playing with it a few hours im amazed. Had a messed up headphone jack on my laptop and saw this on sale for $30 wasnt expecting much from a usb sound device but this thing is great. I actually prefer it over my Creative 70SB073A00000 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card that i just bought for my desktop. The headset that comes with it is great as well mic has a really clear sound to and the earphones are really loud and feel comfortable.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Tempted to carry this around and just use it on all my computers

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect.

Pros: This is basically a mini X-fi Xtreme sound in a small bit size awesomeness. Once you go X-fi, youll never go back! :3

Cons: Almost perfect except the creative console doesnt have SIMPLE MANUAL controls for treble and bass! EH! come on creative! be smarter than that...

Other Thoughts: Love it but it also uses some proc power but its to be expected.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Good for the price

Pros: I got mine from Best Buy on sale. I was very skeptical on how a usb sound card would function at first. This was better than I expected. I really enjoyed how the drivers were on the usb memory and I could just install/update from there. Although the sound quality is nothing compared to my Indigo IO, I still am very excited and pleased on how much bang for the buck this thing really is.

Cons: Sound quality could improve, but for the price, this is excellent

Other Thoughts: The Voice changing feature is very fun to play with expecially over Teamspeak with friends.

Used on a Lenovo W510 w/ Sennheiser PC-350

4 out of 5 eggsConvenient and Effective Upgrade from Onboard Audio

Pros: - Significantly better listening experience and audio quality
- Bass boost, surround, crystallizer.
- Affordable
- Portable

Cons: - CPU based processing takes up resources (but not much)
- Takes up a USB port (not a very secure physical connection; easily dislodged if not careful)

Other Thoughts: This is a fantastic replacement for onboard laptop audio for those who enjoy music and gaming on the go. Crystalizer makes audio much more dynamic and the 24bit processing of compressed audio is great.

Only issue is the fact that it is USB, but that's the reality of having a portable audio processing unit. Some have noted pauses and interrupted audio due to CPU load, but this has not happened to me but may be a common problem for a small percentage of users.

It is not a replacement for desktop audio though since PCI based cards are cheaper, produce better audio, and does not use CPU to process.

3 out of 5 eggsNot The Best Solution

Pros: in my situation i upgraded my hp laptop to windows 7 from xp and lost my audio, after trying for several hours over multiple days with various drivers just kinda gave up then a client suggested just adding an external soundcard, looked around and didnt see too many options that i liked so went this product. for the most part it works and gets the job done, it was a fast, simple and literal plug-n-play install. 30 seconds after plugging it in the usb port of my laptop i had my audio back.

Cons: another reviewer wrote "...the music may stutter...", i have noticed the same problem. there's the occasional stutter and/or pop in the audio every few seconds. its not really all that annoying but its definitely noticeable.

Other Thoughts: i wish there was another product that was just as plug-n-play but without the stutters and pops... but if you're just looking for basic audio and a quick solution this works ok.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 1.) Sounds noticeably better with games/movies
A. Ambient sounds pop
B. Synthetic surround
C. Quality of the sounds is better and clearer.
2.) Small usb sized device
3.) No need to crack open the case and install a card.
4.) Easily transfer from multiple pc's.
5.) Price is 1/2 of the internal card.
6.) If you play games online they have more than a dozen voice changing profiles. EG: "Old man", "Marine", "Alien" etc. My son got a kick out of me sounding like these voices.

Cons: 1.) None

Other Thoughts: Used these with Sennheiser headset very impressed.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, i love it

Pros: Brought it together with Dr. Dre the Beats earbug, this little bad boy plug right into your USB port on front or the back of your PC, Windows 7 instantly recognize it and put it as default audio output device (no driver installation necessary, but in order to get the full feature of the device, like the crystallizer, you need to install the driver come with the device) change the default depth from 16 bit to 24 bit, and hook it up with my JBL speakers, wow, all I can say it's amazing, compare to my old onboard audio, the background track sounded a lot crispier, and vocals sounded clearer, bass is deeper but not distorted.

Cons: Only 2.1 output
The manual looks like tourist manual.

Other Thoughts: I played James Blunt's "Your Beautiful" at 192kbps, the guitar sounded amazing, you feel like you are sitting in front of him listen to him perform live.
The next test is Alicia Key's "Doesn't Mean Anything" at 222kbps, the vocal stands out but not overpowering, I can still hear the soft piano in the background.
Last test is Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" at 183kbps, the bass is deep and crisp, no distortion, also I heard a lot detail I never heard before with my onboard audio.

Totally worth the money, just make sure you have decent sets of speaker or headphone to use it with it. Creative you are awesome.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat for the buck

Pros: comes with headphones, 1 gig flash, and can go from pc to pc. downloadable software is great. a lot better sound than my realtek onboard, and my audigy 2.

Cons: doesn't seem to handle bass to well. the bass in cod4 seems to come in a little distorted as well as some sounds in vent. i have a good head set(gamecon 377) and this happens. it also happens with the included earbuds and my desktop speakers.

Other Thoughts: i exchanged it once thinkin that i had a faulty card, but the new 1 has the same problem. ill try more to mess with the EQ. once i get this problem fixed, it will deff be a 5 egg product
