2 out of 5 eggsBummed

Pros: Sound quality is good when it works.

Cons: Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system.....

I have run into this numerous times since ive bought the card, its just random. I assume the drivers crash as the sound "changes" and i realize that the sound card is not working properly as the drivers seem to be missing. So i try and re-install drivers and i get the above message. Usually it requires multiple shutdowns and/or reboots to finally have the system recognize the sound card and get the drivers installed. Today, nothing is working, hence im finally writing a review. This is the last creative product i'll buy. While their cards usually sound good, either there are driver issues ive had in the past or now this awesome error that it cannot find my card....even though my system finds it and installs default windows drivers and sound works, though poorly.

5 out of 5 eggsFor Users Getting Static!

Pros: POWERFUL!

Cons: Software is annoying, but it works. And sometimes it need a kick in the but.

Other Thoughts: If you're getting popping and static, make sure your sound card is not on the same IRQ as your video card(s). Mine was, and it was causing constant feedback, especially under high FPS. Changing PCI-E slots can fix this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound card & Value

Pros: The software package is great and intuitive.
Great value for the quality of this sound card.
Easy setup.
Works as intended.

Cons: This product is discontinued.

Other Thoughts: When I was in the market for a sound card. I considered ASUS and Creative products. Needless to say, I'm very glad I decided to support Creative.

5 out of 5 eggswonderfull

Pros: Wonderful card went in with no problems. the sound is way better than the onboard I was using on a previous build.
works with windows 7 x64. works with my motherboard ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX. run optical to my 5.1 receiver. it transmits all audio well.

Cons: software that comes with it was funky to set up not the most strait forward set up. The sound didn't want to work at first. but once the setup was complete

Other Thoughts: I don't think you will need this card unless you are looking for some high end sound. there really is no reason to get a sound card if you are using anything less than a surround sound setup of some sort. I wanted good audio as my computer is also my Blu-ray player also.

5 out of 5 eggsGood sound card

Pros: 1. Wasn't DOA

2. Optical in/out

3. THX crystal clear software

4. Has Dolby Digital Live codec for 5.1 receiver compatibility.

Cons: Does NOT work well with other drivers installed. Wont take an egg off because that's kinda expected.

Took me about 15 minutes of tinkering to figure out how to output 5.1 to my reciever through the optical out port. Instructions on Dolby Digital Live were a bit confusing but not impossible to figure out if you know what youre doing.

Other Thoughts: Its a sound card.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card, Horrible Support and Customer Service

Pros: The sound card works well. I purchased the card to use it with my XP400 Turtle Beach headphones and it works; for the most part.

Cons: In order to use the Dolby Digital Live Surround for my PC, I was told I needed to download the DTS package from Creative's website. I paid the $4.72 for the software and they charged my card. I received a confirmation e-mail and a Tax receipt. They never sent me the link to download the software or the activation key. I contacted customer service via their website email twice. It's been almost 24 hours and I have not received a response. Normally I would wait longer for a response, but this is a downloadable file not a physical disk!
I did manage to download the free software for the card. It took 2 hours to download a 158.6 MB file from Creative’s website. My internet connection has a 30 Mbps download speed, so I know the speed issue is not on my end. I have 12 years of computer building and repairing experience, this is the worst support and customer service I have ever experienced. This is the first and last Creative product I will ever purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsCrackling sound

Pros: Music sounds nice.

Cons: Sound crackles and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I thought creative labs were far past these types of issues...

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 simply doesn't work well with integrated sound cards. Go strictly USB or all your games will drive you crazy with crackling sound. Days of troubleshooting and reading hundreds of comments resulted in nothing. I can see why the price of this card has dropped dramatically over the last few months.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the buck Gaming audio!

Pros: This card is aimed at the gaming crowd so it does what it set out to accomplish deliver great audio in games. Most of the people that would say this card is garbage are using the dedicated headphone amp to listen to music its a jack for (gaming) headsets not music guys and gals..

Cons: None really took me all of a 1/2 minute to understand the specialized Headphone amp Jack is for gaming only not music! time I shall never regain xD

Other Thoughts: If you game and you need great audio for pinpointing encroaching enemy's this card gets it done and done!
