5 out of 5 eggsOutThere

Pros: Very small and works in my PCi express x16 slot. Sounds are more crisp and clear and louder then on-board. Same look but less expensive to buy and use. Less distortion from the sounds.

Cons: Con if you plug into your x16 slot make sure there is enough power in your system to work. I found that out my board told me to add more power to run the PCi 2nd x16 slot. Once I did that it powered up with no problems. This is for some board that have the extra power adapter for their 2nd GPU x16 slot like mine. Get a good pair of head phone and quality 5.1 speakers.

Other Thoughts: One thing I did notice my old 5.1 setup had a odd buzz in them but not in the headphone plugs. It could be related to my 5.1 age of the hardware. But my cheap headphone can't handle the output so I had to turn it down or risk destroying the cheap headphone. My Sony works fine but it's a Sony. Also on my system UEFI/Legacy I did have to turn my on-board sound setting to "Auto" so that it would recognize the sound card automatically so I didn't have to disable it in the UEFI which is a big plus if I have to do any kinda warranty on the board if it should have problems I don't have to mess with the UEFI bios for the sound settings. I will have to use it more to find where that hum is coming from but I suspect it has something to do with the age of my 5.1 speakers are from 2009. I installed everything default and it could be a setting that I need to make to stop the humming. Will report back and update experience in the future how it goes. I will give it 5 stars for now for the quality of the product but because I have had prior experiences with Sound Blaster products working good in Gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsgood soundcard

Pros: Great sound on music and games. I have always used Creative sound cards and have not had many problems out of them. Drivers are working fine so far and I know Creative drivers/software can be buggy at times.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: It seems with sound cards that they are either good or bad, nothing in the middle. The card arrived swiftly with newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound, Great Price

Pros: This is a great sound card. Doesn't have all the frills of the other "fancy" gamer or recording artist cards, but if you just want good, clear, quality sound for gaming, watching videos and listening to music at a low price, this is the card.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's not a beautiful piece of hardware, so if you have a windowed case and want something flashy, get the gamer version of the card with all the LED's and frufru.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT SO GOOD

Pros: Its a Sound Blaster

Cons: Non except it didn't work properly.

Other Thoughts: Worked in Stereo but not in 5.1 mode which I wanted. Tried all available slots I had and it sounded the same in all. In 5.1 mode was a lot of cracking and Hissing. Some sound but overall not what it should be. I'll stay with my old sound blaster but I have to RMA this card and get my money back. It is probably a great card but mine didn't work.

1 out of 5 eggsDirty Sound

Pros: None that I have found so far.

Cons: The card added a terrible buzzing/whistle to the sound chain.

Other Thoughts: New drivers, grounding triple checked... ASUS OnBoard sound is clean. Added card, crud sound. Booooo

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: It's A SoundBlaster so not much to say. I have been using SoundBlaster cards since the early 90's. I picked this up to connect the optical to home theater system in another computer system.

Cons: No issues that I can see.

Other Thoughts: Advise that you disable the Onboard audio in your motherboard bios and uninstall any software if you have it so that you don't run into any conflicts.

5 out of 5 eggsI love it

Pros: I like the gold plated ports
Install was easy, card slipped into a PCIe x 4 slot nicely, no issues

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My 1 PCIe x 1 slot is blocked by my Video card so I used the 1 open PCIe x 4 slot and all went well. I didn't go into BIOS at all but went into Windows 7 Control Panel>Sound>Playback Tab and Disabled motherboard onboard sound devices before installing this new card.

I had downloaded this cards software drivers from the Creative Web Support page prior to installation and didn't use anything from the included Disc in the box. I also did not hook up the front panel HD Audio plug yet, not sure if I will do that.

Sound seems better over the motherboard onboard audio, but the reason I bought this card is because I bought 2 sets of Creative T40 speakers and 1 Logitech z523 set, so using all 3 audio out ports on the back of this card for nice surround sound, I love it.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding sound card

Pros: Black PCB and software is wonderful. Once you go from integrated audio to this sound card, you'll most definitely not in the slightest go back to mobo audio. The sound blaster z control panel is very immersive, you are in for a world of tinkering. What I appreciate the most, is the easy headphone to speaker switch. The days of unplugging my headphones are over with.

Cons: Takes indefinite amount of time to configure whatever sound system you got going on. Not the plug and play type of sound card.

Other Thoughts: I keep thinking about upgrading to the Creative Sound Blaster ZxR!

4 out of 5 eggsNo Linux Support

Pros: Works great in windows. No issues.

Cons: No Linux driver.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed that Creative decided not to support Linux with this card.
