Improve your desktop's audio output for digital music, DVDs and gaming with the Riviera sound card from Turtle Beach. Installation is simple and straightforward. Pros: This sound card is the best card i've heard hands down. Putting specs aside and focusing on sound clarity and quality this card totally blows my Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum away with both using Logitec X-530 speakers. The sound is richer and fuller and it is 8x cheaper then the SB card! I have 2 of these now and have installed one in a friends machine.
Cons: The audio imputs could be better, they don't sound as good as they could with my TV tuner.
Other Thoughts: Can't beat the sound quality for the price.

Works great in linux

Comments: I see other reviewers have had problems with DTS and Dolby through the optical on this card. This must be a software problem because the card is fully capable of doing that.
Setup in linux is fairly trivial (this card uses a CMI8738 chip which is well supported in ALSA) and with a properly configured Xine, I can now watch DVD's with full DTS or Dolby surround.
This card has completed my MythTV HTPC and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others as a budget solution to surround sound.

Pros: Plugged it in and it worked with my Ubuntu machine. All I had to do was enable the S/PDIF out in alsamixer and everything was great. Haven't tried the 5.1 surround sound yet but the stereo is beautiful! 24-bit/48k is plenty for me, no need to spend double for 96k.

Pros: cheap, has S/PDIF optical output
Cons: I bought this card to replace my ASUS on-board card, because I thought it's better. I was shock when I see the S/PDIF optical output is only 2.0 channel, not 5.1!!! The sound of analog output is low. I decided to continue use my onboard sound card because the analog sound is much better. My system: Asus MO + Intel Quad core CPU, Belkin Pure/AV cable -> Yamaha 5.1 Receiver -> All 5.1 PolkAudio Monitor series speakers with Monster wire.
Other Thoughts: The description of this card is very smart, it mislead me to believe the entire card is 5.1... I missed the keyword "Analog", the 5.1 is only for analog!!!
