Improve your desktop's audio output for digital music, DVDs and gaming with the Riviera sound card from Turtle Beach. Analog audio outputs for up to 5.1-channel sound systems are built into the board along with an optical digital S/PDIF output for pass-through of Dolby Digital and DTS multi-channel DVD sound.
Installation is simple and straightforward. Just seat the card in a vacant PCI card slot in your desktop and install the drivers from the included disk and you're ready to connect your speakers and enjoy high-quality audio. If you're looking to create music on your PC, a microphone input and MIDI port available on the card as well. Connect an optional MIDI adapter cable and you can hook up your MIDI keyboard equipment.
Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version. OEM's are packaged generically and do not include extras usually found in the retail package. OEM products are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.
Pros: This sound card is the best card i've heard hands down. Putting specs aside and focusing on sound clarity and quality this card totally blows my Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum away with both using Logitec X-530 speakers. The sound is richer and fuller and it is 8x cheaper then the SB card! I have 2 of these now and have installed one in a friends machine.
Cons: The audio imputs could be better, they don't sound as good as they could with my TV tuner.
Other Thoughts: Can't beat the sound quality for the price.

Works great in linux

Comments: I see other reviewers have had problems with DTS and Dolby through the optical on this card. This must be a software problem because the card is fully capable of doing that.
Setup in linux is fairly trivial (this card uses a CMI8738 chip which is well supported in ALSA) and with a properly configured Xine, I can now watch DVD's with full DTS or Dolby surround.
This card has completed my MythTV HTPC and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others as a budget solution to surround sound.

Pros: Good price and it worked on my Dell 4600 after a Win 7 install. The original sound card would not work no matter what I did. Fast shipping also.
Cons: Wish my old sound card would have worked.

Pros: This is a decent card. It installs easily and the drivers were very simple to install. The control panel is pretty good and allows you to customize to your environment with no issues. It works well in Windows and watching video. Overall a good card for the price.
Cons: The description says works well for gaming. Unfortunately, it does not. It could no keep up with most of the games I run, DDO, SCFA, LFD, LFD2, Crysis, Farcry2. The sound comes and goes and definitely goes out when there is a lot going on in the game at the moment. I am taking off one star for a deceptive description.
Other Thoughts: Remember, this is an OEM purchase. The card comes wrapped in bubble wrap and has a driver disk and small manual. So, no complaining about packaging please. If you want the fancy box etc... then buy the retail version.

Pros: Might make a good paper wieght or hockey puck
Cons: Was not seen or recognized at all by windows as per the device manager using Vista SP2 32 bit when I used the installation CD. Downloaded driver from Turtle Beach (Riviera) struck out as well. The terra tecc driver was not authenticated by Vista. I ignored the warning and forced an install, at which time it did recognize it for a short time before triggering a blue screen general protection fault. Had to do a hard shutdown since it totally froze my system, decided against further efforts after the turtle laid that egg on my beach. Would have given it a negative egg rating were that allowed.
Other Thoughts: Avoid all products from this manufacturer at all costs.
