Pros: I bought this USB sound card as a second sound device for my WindowsXP computer. I have the built-in NVidia sound card that is plugged though to my speakers. I use this Turtle Beach basic USB sound device specifically for my TeamSpeak and Squawkbox setup allowing me to hear my games though the speakers and my VOIP/Chat software using my headphones (plugged into the USB sound device). This setup lets me play BF2 having the sounds in the speakers and my team mates chatting though my headphones. In this application, the USB sound device works excellent. The setup was quick and plug-n-play worked the way it was supposed to. I have NO ISSUES combining this sound device with my built-in NVidia sound card. I selected USB so that I would specifically avoid any issues. This device is inexpensive and works great.
Cons: No "mic" input, but for $25 it works excellent.
Other Thoughts: Good job NewEgg getting my delivery so quick!!

Pros: Eash way to get optical s/pdif. Linux(alsa) support includes s/pdif.
Cons: Buffering an issue, at least w/ linux. Can't do analog and digital out at the same time. I'd rather have a separate toslink output instead of messing around w/ an adapter.
Other Thoughts: MythTV can use "aggressive buffering". Mplayer doesn't have problems. Xine, my favorite dvd player has the sound lagging 2-3 seconds and I never figured out how to fix it.

Pros: Does what it claims, is passing DD 5.1 thru to my receiver and will pass the rest of my audio thru as stereo PCM when set as the default directsound device. Was easy and painless to install and setup on a 32bit Vista system for somebody with high tech knowledge.
Cons: none yet
Other Thoughts: Came with a usb extension cable. Can't evaluate the sound because my receiver is probably the bottle neck for quality here, but if you are an audiophile you're probably not looking at this $30 device anyways. My thoughts for the money the sound is great.

Pros: Recently, I have been doing testing with on board sound, after taking a major notice to how much processing was devoted to it I decided to try out external sound cards. Since the things I've owned prior to this were actual sound cards converted to USB (huge bulky units) rather then a USB sound card, I felt it was time to try something new. The OS this was for was a XP rig, however I've used it from everything to Vista and Win7 now. If I have any reason to split the sound channels I now can very easily. Being that it is a USB setup time is non existent, just plug and play. I've plugged this in everything from 5.1 surround, headphones and power speakers. All of the sound is rather crisp and good for 30 dollars. The 5.1 surround used the software, and had a direct 1 aux in. Worked fine and all speakers played correctly.
Overall excellent.
Cons: The fact there is no MIC input, as stated before. That is my only beef with this.
Other Thoughts: I've recommenced this to my friends and family. Will make a great gift for any tech which likes to experiment and try new things.
May try out other products offered by Turtle Beach. :D

Pros: I just purchased this to go along with my Bose Companion computer speakers.
I never knew what I was missing. I enjoy a wide range of music from classic rock, folk and classical. This is just a great little sound card. The software allows you to choose from a concert hall environment to a padded cell! Actually about a couple dozen choices and yes, they do make a difference. You can also adjust the direction of sound, from stationary to "moving" from side-to-side, etc. Makes the music sound like you're actually there. Worth every penny.
No pulling apart my computer and it's plug'n play.
Cons: None that I know of.
