5 out of 5 eggsHeard What

Pros: Very good card for replacing on-board sound. The item came with extra bracket and the CD in the box and with Low-Profile making it even better for my system.
This puppy works well for my application.

Cons: Bracket was slightly bent, but you can straighten that with Zero real problems

Other Thoughts: Wish it would have has some of the cables for attachment to the MoBo - but it stated what came in the box.

1 out of 5 eggsGames sound like they are on a bucket

Pros: None. Onboard audio is just as good as this card.

Cons: My games all sound like they are playing in a bucket.

On the CMedia site I'm unable to download any drivers it asks for a login.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound Cards

Pros: Have used these cards in both Linux and Windows boxes with no problems. Currently have 6 on low profile brackets in a 2RU Debian box digitizing 6 stereo signals to stream to the internet, 4 in another 2RU Debian box, 1 each in several 2RU servers, and 4 on full size brackets in various Windows boxes in the house. Several of them are over a year old, and have experienced no compatibility issues.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I don't normally talk up a product. Just say it works, etc. This, however, is a really great add-in card.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Replacement for Failed MB Sound

Pros: Can't beat it for the price. It works fine on Linux (Ubuntu) and that's all I needed when the on board sound died on my Mother-in-Laws desktop. It's been working solid for more than a year now.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsBSOD in Server 2003

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Does not work in Server 2003

Other Thoughts: Bought this card because it said that it was compatible with Server 2003, but as soon as I installed the driver on the CD the computer BSODd. After trying different drivers and slots, and online research (which showed many other users with the same issue) I gave up. It may say it works in Server 2003, but it does NOT!
It may be a great product, but I couldn't tell you...

1 out of 5 eggsAwful Buzz...

Pros: None yet...

Cons: Like most of the other 1 egg reviews. Installed it, and as soon as the sound started bzzzzzzzz. Tried the newer drivers from the C-Media site, no help. Nothing I did would fix the sound. As longs as there is no media playing at all, there is no feedback. The buzzing only starts when it tries to output sound, which to me means the card isn't grounded properly... As in a product defect.

5 out of 5 eggsBest sound card for the price? Probably

Pros: Low price, simple install, small, LOUD

Cons: Cheesy reverb effects

Other Thoughts: I picked up this sound card to replace the default on my HP-Campaq dc7100 which had the most annoying fuzz due to the brilliant idea from the engineers at HP putting the sound card directly below the hard drive and a bunch of cables. Anyway, I went looking for a new card but didn't want to shell out more than $50. I found this little beauty for $10 and thought I'd give it a whirl. Now, I'm a guy who cares about sound (But is by no means an audiophile) and I absolutely LOVE this card. You get a very clear sound with a lovely range of EQ options both preset and manual. You also get some serious VOLUME. I had my headphones on when I first booted this thing up and nearly blew my eardrums out! The card automatically sets volume at the max and you will get a very nasty hiss from that, but that's really to be expected. Just keep it under the halfway mark and you'll have a perfect sound at a great volume. My only complaint is the reverb sounds terrible, but I never use it nor do I plan on it.
