4 out of 5 eggsThis is an awesome sound card

Pros: Stellar Dolby True HD, DTS-MA sound for blu-ray movies, when paired with high quality receiver.
Amazing music quality, 24/96 playback, with proper source.
Outputs via HDMI, so one cable for all audio and video.

Cons: Was rough when I first got the card, but that's when it first came out. Firmware can not be updated on this card, I had to send mine back to Asus so they could do it.
DVI-HDMI connector cable low quality, tossed it for a better one.
Only get 2.0 for EAX audio (games)

Other Thoughts: This card needs to be backed up by a quality receiver, with THD, DTS-MA decoding and respectable 5.1-7.1 speakers. Otherwise you're not getting your money's worth. I don't know what all the low eggs are for, this is an awesome card. I love it. It brings me audible joy.
Don't connect a pair of sub-par speakers to this card and expect miracles, it's meant to stream audio to external decoder, that's how it works best, and it does it very well. if you're using it with spdif output, you're not getting the full bandwidth to accommodate blu-ray audio.
If you have a good sound system definitely worth it to buy this card, all my music and movies sound amazing.

1 out of 5 eggsNot ready for purchase

Pros: None really. In theory it should have some but they don't work as promised

Cons: Drivers buggy, TotalMedia Software buggy and caused crashes. Unable to do bitstreaming of HD audio formats. Requires lots of fiddling when changing sounds modes. Asus support isn't being supportive in helping or acknowledging problems. If you have Vista forget about this card. XP is only slightly better.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy. Asus released this prematurely. It was money wasted and I had to return it.

2 out of 5 eggsNot ready for Prime Time as of 11/2008

Pros: Claims to be able to do everything - full bitstreaming of advanced audio. Bundled Total Media Theater integrates well with Vista Media Center for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD playback.

Cons: Doesn't really do many of the things it says. Under XP most of the bitstreaming works - but nothing really works on Vista. Asus released this card before drivers and applications could actually do the things it would like the card to do.

5 out of 5 eggsNICE!!!

Pros: Awesome audio card especially for nvidia graphics card users.
splendid hd enhances blu ray movies and other hd media a little, but no big gain. The sound is awesome.

Cons: Take a little work to get running perfect.

Other Thoughts: when I first installed it, I had no video, but I just unplugged and then plugged it back in and then it worked. also it wouldn't play anything video at all. Had to reload the graphics drivers and now everything works perfect.
