3 out of 5 eggsFYI

Pros: Excellent Audio

Cons: Not Compatible with Windows 8.

The software does not work with Windows 8 so you cannot control and switch input methods on the software, essentially turning this card into a 200$ paperweight. The drivers seem alright with Win8, but again, the requirement of software support to change between speakers or headphones essentially breaks this card.

Other Thoughts: If newegg ever stocks this again, DO NOT buy this if you are using Windows 8. Compatibility settings do not work.

2 out of 5 eggsXense Audio

Pros: Extremely high quality Audio
Plenty of Audio Options
Great for all around HTPC - Gaming

Cons: S/pdif is not working, so I kept it out of my machine because I was running SLI on a micro atx. I somehow misplaced my DVI - 7.1 audo splitters for my speakers. I got it RMA and the S/PDIF still doesn't work. But that isn't the issue because Asus support is one of the best.
The issue is, I can't replace that DVI to Audio cable. It just isn't availible Anywhere, not even the Asus Estore.

Other Thoughts: I love the sound card, I'd give it 6 stars but I don't know why it needs to click so much. My PC Shuts down randomly and the only thing I hear is that Audio cards clicking. But I haven't ruled out the cause.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellant Sound Card

Pros: The reviews say this is an outstanding sound card.

Cons: The Asus Xonar Xense is now discontinued. Very hard to find. But if you can find a new one and purchase it, Asus will still support the 3 year warranty of this card.

Other Thoughts: Getting back to 'Sandman' review of this card. There was a misprint of this card in the specifications. This card supports Dolby Prologic II and doesn't not Support Dolby Prologic IIx or IIxc. But there isn't such thing as xc according to Dolby Digital.

Dolby® Digital Live, Dolby® Headphone, Dolby® Virtual Speaker, Dolby® Pro-Logic II

Just want to make a slight correction for everyone. Though I wish the card did support Dolby Prologic IIc.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Things!

Pros: Better in games than Creative XF-i cards as the reviews state.

Nice, easy setup of the 5.1 - 7.1 speaker inputs with included extension plug.

The headphones are worth more than the card. You get them for free.

Cons: I wish Asus would include the optional OP Amps. Or at least offer them on their site for consumer purchase. I can't seem to find them anywhere on the internet. No one carries them.

Other Thoughts: I haven't purchased this card yet. Still on the Auto Notify list with Newegg. Been over a month now. I check for this card every day. Sometimes twice a day. I hope Asus ships more of these cards out soon before the holidays arrive. Would like to be gaming when I'm stuck inside from the snowy weather.

If I have too, I'll purchase is somewhere else. Unfortunately many other vendors don't offer an additional 2 year warranty on this card like Newegg does.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent for music, games, and movies

Pros: I bought this card because I wanted something better than the onboard sound on my motherboard, and this card fits the bill well. It sounds absolutely great, especially when paired with speakers or headphones that can take advantage the sound quality, such as the Sennheiser headset that is included with this product. The surround audio and Dolby audio settings really do work well together in conjunction with appropriate hardware to make music, games, and movies sound absolutely great. I didn't expect such an improvement from what I had before. If you can afford the cost, this card is worth it for the sound quality!

Also, the Windows drivers are stable and work well (I'm using Windows 7 64-bit). The included utility for choosing speaker settings also works well, letting you configure your speaker setup & sample rate on the fly.

Cons: The price is a bit high for a sound card.

Also, there is no MIDI support - The card does not include a hardware MIDI synthesizer, nor does it include any midi I/O ports. As someone who likes to create & record music, I am very disappointed by this aspect of the card. It would be nice to have some MIDI features, especially for the price of this card.

Other Thoughts: Although the price is high, I think it's worth it!

When changing the speaker output (i.e., from main speaker output to headphones), there is an audible click from the sound card, as if a physical switch is being changed. I'm not sure what this is, but I thought it was interesting..

Although this card lacks MIDI, I suppose that could be made up for with dedicated MIDI hardware & software.

5 out of 5 eggsAudiophile Quality

Pros: If your using IEMs or any high end audio setup, this is the sound card for you. Very high signal to noise.

Cons: But there is, some noise audio-able from the front connector, I was unable to hear any from the back connector.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: The ASUS Sound Card is beautiful, in both looks and sound. Excellent sound quality, tested through Harmon Kardon soundsticks and 15" subs.

Sennheiser headphones are exceptional quality as well, gaming and music sound amazing. They look awesome, swivel, and are so comfortable when you put them on, they take you to another world in a way.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This is probably the best thing I've picked up as part of my new computer build, definitely worth the price - nothing but superior quality.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: The best sound card/ headset that I have ever owned. High build quality and great fit and finish. In the end the sound is what we purchase this system for and the sound is nothing short of stellar.

Cons: The price is over the top, but I guess since you get two high quality items it may be considered a bargain.

Other Thoughts: There was very little tech knowledge needed to get started with this system, but the software is another story. Take the time to tweak it and learn it and you will not be disappointed.

Great work Asus and of course Sennheiser!
