Treat your ears to the ultimate audio experience for digital music, DVDs and games by upgrading your desktop with the X-Raider 7.1 sound card from AuzenTech. Powered by the C-Media CMI8768 chipset, the Auzen X-Raider 7.1 provides 24-bit/96kHz high quality 8 channel audio, includes Auzentech´s signature swappable OPAMP for all channels, and features that make it ideal for MP3, games, movies, music and more.
There's a line-in jack for recording from music equipment, CD players and digital audio players directly to your PC. An external mic input lets you connect a microphone for recording sound or for video conferencing, gaming or Internet phone calls or chat.
Installation is simple and straightforward. Just seat the card in a vacant PCI card slot in your desktop and install the drivers from the included disk and you're ready to connect your speakers and enjoy high-quality audio. Gamers will love the broad support for immersive audio APIs such as EAX 1 and 2, A3D and DirectSound 3D, too.
Pros: Response to reviewer steelian on 8/23/2009... The reason your sound card shows only 2 speakers when you go to S/PDIF is your sound card is only sending a "single signal" via the S/PDIF out and your AMP has the DTS decorder in it to make that signal into surround sound. What the sound card driver should should show is no speakers only a signal wave, or maybe one speaker, but most show the 2 speakers when S/PDIF is being used. Once S/PDIF is sent to your DTS AMP it has the control of the speakers, etc.... IF your not getting surround sound from your S/PDIF out then your AMP does not have a built in decoder..buy another HT amp that does.
Cons: Life is way to short....
Other Thoughts: Peace out..

Pros: optical spdif in/out, 24-bit crystal clear sound, swappable opamps is a plus i can confirm it works as-is in Vista64, and Ubuntu Hardy using OSS4 with a bit of fiddling around. Yes even the optical out works in Hardy.
Cons: listen to spdif IN would be nice, dont see a way to do it without using the 'passthru'
Other Thoughts: probably no fault of the card, but the optical out didnt work at first in Hardy/oss4 but after a couple reboots and fiddling around with settings it started working. then i had some crackling but that too disappeared after more fiddling around & restarts. now i have FLAWLESS crystal clear optical-out in ubuntu :D

Great budget card

Pros: Cheap, works, swappable opamps.
Cons: None. I hear Auzentech support can be sketchy but haven't needed them yet.
Other Thoughts: After swapping the front L/R opamps to OPA627's at a cost of fifty bucks, the sound is just lightyears ahead of anything else in the sub hundred price range. Very highly recommended, at least for 2 channel use. I suppose it could get pricey upgrading all 8 channels.
