Sweet Card
- Pros: all 6 5.1 channels work
good sound levels no noise good microphone connection
- Cons: may get hardware version 1, which will not accept recent drivers. (but this is ok).
- Other Thoughts: I got hardware version 1, which has really old drivers and apparently won't accept new ones from the manufacturer or c-media. It's no big deal though, they install and work fine on Win XP SP3.
5.1 sound levels are good and there's no apparent noise (which is why I bought this, my Asus P5B motherboard comes with 5.1 sound but it's very noisy).
Haven't had any blue screens or other technical problems and I've been playing a lot of L4D as well as listening to music, so I'd say this is a solid card for the price.
I'm guessing the drivers haven't been updated for years because they work.
Great Card for Vista
- Pros: Drivers installed through Windows Update, sounds great, works with 5.1, good quality, easy to use, pitch shifter. In Vista, it's a great sound card, works all around.
- Cons: Doesn't work in XP. It installs the antiquated driver, and it sounds for everything except games.
- Other Thoughts: Overall a great card if you plan on using Windows Vista or higher but if you plan on using it with Windows XP or 2003, good luck, hopefully you do better than I do with it. The reason I rate it 4 stars is due to the fact that it does not work in XP and that's a problem but since I only use Vista, that's a non-issue for me.
- Pros: Works as needed No problems
- Cons: Cant have 5.1 speakers and an Mic/Line in since they are shared.
- Other Thoughts: Good card for the price
