SIIG CE-S00022-S1 USB SoundWave 7.1 Pro

Pros: Easy to install on Win 7 64 Ultimate. Just plugs in and away I went. The buttons work well, easy to read, would definitely get again if I had a need.

Cons: About once a week it cuts out and my Ventrilo will tell me that my sound card has stopped working. Unplug it, plug it back in and it works. Kind of annoying, but hey I got it for like $22 and it works great.

Other Thoughts: Its a cheap workaround with pretty decent sound for motherboards whose audio has stopped working or for a laptop.

Pros: Works as advertised however on my windows 7 when I installed the cd drivers the control buttons on the adapter didn't work but when I didnt install the dvd drivers on my windows xp laptop and I just plugged it in the control buttons worked fine, so beware.

Cons: When you install the cd u get useful drivers but the buttons dont work but when you do plug and play without the software the buttons work.

Pros: plug and play
had it working in seconds,
no drivers needed.
works with xp/vista/win7
cheap and easy way to add optical digital audio to your PC

Cons: large size, flashing lights (see other reviews)
only 2 channel stereo without their software
(not a problem for me, but I did not install it)

Other Thoughts: had this for 3 years ??? zero problems with it.
think I might buy another one.
I did not use their software, so I don't know if the 7.1 sound works, but I only need/use 2 channel stereo.
haven't use the mic input either.
analog audio out can get VERY loud, much louder than the internal audio output.(this is a good thing!)
I use mine to connect s/pdif to my stereo, GREAT sound.

Pros: Sounds pretty good for such a small device, the software applet gets installed in the control panel has alot of DSP Options to set.

Cons: Very hot to the touch, not really a con as who would sit and hold their USB audio. Could be a pro if it doubles as a hand warmer.

It's hot enough to warrant Giving 4 eggs

Other Thoughts: To get working on Win7 it installed right off the bat but no sound came out. I downloaded the latest driver from siig.com.

Went into the Control Panel - Chose "All control Panel Items" in the top nav. This displyed the USB PnP Sound PnP devices.

Opened it made sure it was enabled under the mixer tab and it started playing great.

You may not have any issues but I have been monkeying with several USB Audio devices and it's quite possible having others disabled caused this one to come up disabled.

Have not tested digital SPDIF OUT but it looks like it would work. It has a separate mixer for that so you may want to check the control panel applet mentioned above if your having an issue.

Pros: Everything in the Specifications tab

Cons: I didnt Buy it yet

...a little bulky, might block other usb ports...but that can be solved with an usb extension

Other Thoughts: Want to use this with both Xp and Vista on my laptop, looks like it could do just fine but im not sure if it will work with vista...

Pros: Uses USB interface on a short cable. This allows the unit to be located out in front of the PC when you want to attach inputs to it and out of sight for operation.
Price is right.
Worked upon connection.
I am using it with Server 2003 in a virtual environment. It is actually connected to an XP VMware PC.

Cons: Not enough inputs and outputs.

Pros: Works right out of the box. No real problems.

Cons: Large size. When plugged in to a USB port, adjacent ports cannot have things plugged into them.

Pros: A cheap soundcard for those of us who need to add one to our laptop. Works well with Linux.

Cons: Broke about a month after it was bought (the USB connector stopped working). Has an annoying blinking LED light on it. When I wear headphones there seems to be an imbalance between my left and right ear.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to replace my onboard card, which is incompatible with Linux. One of the main reasons it broke so quickly was that, since it was poorly built and was always attached to my laptop, it eventually got bent a bit. For my next USB sound card I'm connecting it via a cable. It's less confortable, but it will allow the card to last longer.
