You love enjoying Hollywood movies on your desktop computer and would love to have the original audio that the producer intended to reproduce in the theater. But most computer sound cards don't have enough channels to reproduce the sound, do they? Today we’ll free your ears with this wonderful Striker 7.1 channel sound card from HT Omega.
This Striker sound card features 8 discrete outputs in a well arranged layout. How does 24-bit sound and 96 kHz sample rate sound to you? Hardware decoding of Dolby Digital Live, DTS Interactive and others takes a load off your CPU. An up-mix matrix technology turns any 2 channel audio into 7.1 surround sound. It means you can turn your sound files like WMA, MP3, CD and other audio files into multiple channels, and you have a true-to-life audio experience.
No matter whether you're playing games, listening to music or watching movies, with this HT Omega Striker sound card, you have an incredible audio experience.

Update of my review
- Pros: Heavy Duty
Engineered in the USA No mail in rebate or free cheap headset gimmicks. Customer service agents are really quick to find a solution to a problem, and they return your emails fast. The sound from this card is better than a woman.
- Cons: Quality control can be a little bit better. We all know something will sneak through every once in awhile, I just happened to be that one.
- Other Thoughts: When I first bought the card there was a quality control issue with one of the metal pins on the FP Audio connector. I attempted to return the product to the company not realizing that new egg had a 1 year warranty on the product. After an exchange of emails with HTOmega, I seemed to have lost one of their emails with the RMA information. Not realizing they emailed me the RMA info, I gave the card a bad review based upon not having received the RMA info. When Howard of HTOmega caught wind of my review(yes they read our reviews)within 1 business day I had a new card (Yes 1 business day), the only question asked was where do we send it. Now that is rockin customer service. AMD has excellent customer service, but these guys are even better than AMD. Don't be fooled by the gimmicks of their major compeititor. They will give you some free 1$ head sets or a 50$ rebate just to get you to buy their junk. HT Omega is a small company that just wants you to give them a shot. And you should.
I Have Several of These. All Work Fine
- Pros: 1. See the updated drivers. (1/5/09)
2. See the HT Omega Striker work on my EVGA board. 3. See the lack of hardware conflicts of any kind. 4. See the lack of software conflicts of any kind. 5. Experience the excellent HTOmega support. 6. Call EVGA. No such copyright problem. 7. Call Creative Labs. No such copyright problem. 8. Hear the wonderful audiophile experience.
- Cons: People who don't know what they are talking about, who are obvious shills for other products.
- Other Thoughts: I have several of these cards...and also a Claro HALO. They all work fine.

Stick with onboard
- Pros: Looks nice and makes your computer feel untouchable.
- Cons: Could not get the digital working with the z-5500 system, And when i did get it working with the optical sounds were not coming out the correct channel. When you watched movies you could not here any talking only the background music/effects partly my fault because i did not have the decoder but even when i did get it it didnt work. Also the card did not come with any software that would allow you to configure the audio settings and test like a normal fatality card would.
- Other Thoughts: Save yourself the trouble and stay with onboard audio if you have a good mobo otherwise its just a waste to get an aftermarket audio card.
- Pros: Great sound card with no driver issues thus far, excellent alternative to onboard.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Check the website for the latest drivers
Simply Put...Simply The Best Card Available
- Pros: Clear, crisp, stable.
Incredible value for $$$ spent, especially when on sale and/or with free shipping.
These cards are great for audiophiles and sound professional who don't want to pop hideous amounts of money on professional sound cards...starting at around $1,000 and going up from there.
There are other cards out there for home audiophiles that do not come close. And, if you are a creative musician, or creative home recording type...I would suggest that you get creative with with your music, but NOT "Creative" with your sound card.
Over the past months, I have bought no less than SIX HT Omega cards...five Strikers, one Claro HALO. The function perfectly...absolutely perfectly. I can guarantee you that I do not repeat buy if the product is garbage. These are great sound cards for people who love making, remixing, or just listening to great music of any genre.
- Cons: I honestly can't find any. I don't play games with my computers, so I cannot tell you how well it goes "BOOM!" I can tell you that it handles my remixes and extended crticial monitoring needs through my Mackie and Behringer monitors quite well. If it also happens to run your games. that's wonderful...but most people buying this card have higher aspirations than running "Crysis on high."
- Other Thoughts: I do run these in three professional-level Digital Audio Workstations...portables...Shuttle boxes...a Q9650 w/Striker, a Q9550 w/Striker, and an E8600 w/HT Omega Claro HALO (for headphone work). They have NEVER let me down.
Now, there are drivers for all of the OS now...and they are pretty solid. Make sure you download the current one from the HT site...and use the install DVD as a coaster for your beer cans.
With regard to the OS, most professional DAWs are still running XP Pro SP3...as most professional grade recording hardware and software is still not compatible or reliable with VISTA and 7. Please don't argue with me about this, because you will be wrong. I have yet to see a studio running VISTA or 7. Recording equipment and software is very OS picky...and some stuff just plain will NOT run under VISTA (even with emulator) or 7. That is just the way it is...I do not have the money or time to replace classic legacy hardware.
So, bear that in mind when you read negative rev
