Awesome
- Pros: Low enough latency to rock out through VST effects with the guitar, mic or both. 8ms latency AISO is plenty for a complex composition in FL8. Some say the pre-amp inputs aren't loud enough... it powered my guitar just fine. In fact, the software boost made it clip. crystal clear: my monitors(event TR8's hooked up TRS) are cranked as loud as they'll go and there is no noise, no hiss. performs and sounds better than my PCI maudio 2496.
- Cons: MSRP is a bit steep but if you look there are deals.
- Other Thoughts: Decent software package... if you're into that sort of thing.
Voice Master
- Pros: The Presonus Firebox is fantastic. Easy install and works just as any other sound card would (being that you can only have one sound card selected) just is external not internal. I use the Firebox for audio recording and imaging work plugging two mics into the firebox (can be used for instrument recording). You get amazing sound. Last words for you ... Portable, Reliable, and its perfect for every laptop or desktop to record anything you can think of from guitar to vocals its got all the ins and outs ( Recording and playback through 6 inputs and 8 outputs simultaneously to be exact)!!!
- Cons: My only problem is the price Newegg gives. I looked around before spending the bucks on this and I was able to slice of a fare share of the price. That shouldn't stop you from using Newegg unless you can find somewhere local to get it. Newegg is still very reliable with a quick delivery. I have trusted Newegg with getting all of my computer parts and appliances. This item just isn't something which Newegg is consistently selling so the price is a NORMAL ... not what I usually get from Newegg.
- Other Thoughts: Buy it Local or Buy it Right Now from Newegg!!!

The FireBox has the highest record/playback track count of its size with the ability to record six inputs and playback through ten outputs simultaneously all at pro-quality 24-bit/96kHz. Two ultra-low noise high-headroom microphone/instrument preamplifiers with 48V phantom power are on the front panel for quickly and easily connecting your favorite microphones and instruments. The FireBox also includes a high quality stereo headphone output with volume adjustment on the front panel. The headphone output has its own two-channel driver stream which can be used as a separate stereo bus or two-channel output giving you the ability to send a "cue" mix to the headphone output and a main mix to the main output. Two additional balanced TRS line inputs are located on the rear of the FireBox along with six balanced TRS line outputs. Two channels of S/PDIF input/output and MIDI input/output are also included via DB9 breakout cable. A software router/mixer is also included for further flexibility and power. The 1/3U-widemetal chassis of the FireBox is designed to fit the MAXRACK rack-mounting system from PreSonus and can be racked with the TubePRE, COMP16, EQ3B and HP4 for a neat and compact computer recording system. |
