3 out of 5 eggsdecent

Pros: overall everything is decent for the price. not great but no major complaints so far

Cons: the hdmi connector is hell to get to with the plastic covering that comes with it. Brightness gets to be an issue if full lighting is not on

Other Thoughts: wouldnt buy again but would recommend to super beginners of hand held camcorders.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product at a great price

Pros: I bought this for a trip I took across country, and I am 100% satisfied with the results. For 120 bucks (now I see it's 90), it's a complete no-brainer if you don't already have a video capture device. It's light, small, durable (I dropped it a few times), and the battery lasts quite a while. It does indeed record up to 2 hours on the HD+ setting, and the quality is exceptional. Sound quality is pretty decent too. Built in HDMI allows for easy plug and play into your HDMI capable monitor/HDTV. Video software makes it easy to chop up your videos and upload them to youtube.

Cons: It does tend to get washed out on outdoor brights, but does adjust as best it can. Battery life runs well short of the capture time limit.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a good, low cost video capture device, pick this little puppy up.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Quality

Pros: Really compact--smaller than the competition. Video quality is really nice. Price is right.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind this and the new Vado HD models use the same electronics. Get the model with the best price--performance will be the same.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Easy to use, great picture for HDTV, wife is able to use it. We will soon have our first grandkid so we bought the video cam to take family movies. So far I think the Vado HD is a winner and the price I paid was less than 100 bucks delivered.

Cons: not a big deal but---rubber handle for USB port interferes with tripod use

Other Thoughts: Because I bought a tripod and the USB port gets in the way while screwing onto tripod I had to solve the Con cheaply yet effectively. For less than 5 bucks I bought a 1/4 x 20 coupling nut to attach to tripod platform, cut a piece of allthread to use in/on top of coupling and now it can be connected to tripod without ruining the rubber flap on the USB port. I would not try this with a heavy camera of some type but with this light little pocket cam it was an easy fix.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Cheap

Cons: -Built-in battery
-Only 2x zoom
-Non-expandable memory

Other Thoughts: I bought this to record our soccer games but now it's in the back of the drawer after only 1 use. The battery only lasts around 1:30 and the unit would cut out shortly after that. The wide angle lens is good for sports but you can barely see anything with only 2x zoom. I would prefer it to have an sd slot with have no internal memory. A removable battery would be nice too.

5 out of 5 eggsI Love It

Pros: The storage is more than enough for a vacation, plenty of battery life, small and extremely portable, the price less than $200 on NE.

You can change the battery

Cons: No way to add a extra memory card, I wish it had a plug for external mic.

Other Thoughts: People were ragging on the sound and I was afraid it was going to be bad, however I think the sound is great for a camera this site.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat purchase.

Pros: Picture quality is great, the colors are very vivid, it has a zoom. works on Linux and windows. (it transfers files at a higher rate in Linux)

Cons: not two for one.

Other Thoughts: very easy to carry around, not a professional digital camera, but this one does a great job.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Great Video

Coming Soon!

Pros: Vado HD takes really nice video for this price point. Quite surprised by the quality. And it's tiny - much smaller than the Flip; much larger screen than the comparably sized Flip Mino. Vado's wide angle pulls in lots of action compared to Flip or Kodak min-cams. Sound isn't bad - adjusts well in loud settings like concerts, crowds.
New Vado Central software download is free (10-09) and works great with Macs & iMovie. Open Vado Central to upload video into iMovie 09, then edit with ease.
Vado HD first generation (this one) is identical to "new" 2nd generation except for glossy exterior. Nice case included. Replaceable batter. Cons below are minor compared to many pros.

Cons: Low light quality isn't great; bright backlight filming is not the best either; somewhat slow charging via usb.

Other Thoughts: Great fun with this nifty camera. I have a full sized HD video camera that I've used at my kid's sporting events. This little gem takes video that's virtually as good as long as the action is close-by. No optical zoom, of course, but for family events indoors or out, the convenience of a video camera that you can stick in your pocket is unbeatable. Video below is a 15 second scene at a lake shot with the HD Vado, imported and then exported as a .mov file through iMovie 09; then -for this site, converted to mpg format.
