Customer Reviews of the Olympus America Inc. Stylus 830
Pros: FYI-I went to the Olympus website to see what their price was on this camera and it came out in 2007 and is no longer being made.
Cons: 2 years is a long time in technical years.
Other Thoughts: that is why it is so cheap

Rating: 5/5Orange Lover
Pros: I gave a gift to my wife for Christmas 08', she love it so the battery charger works great and really easy orange spot where she put on.. The battery only once charged since last longer than old digital camera what is much lighter, thinner and high image photos.
Cons: nope

Rating: 2/5Noise
Pros: Solid construction, weatherproof design, large LCD, fairly simple menu system, distinctive color (orange), good price
Cons: Noise, noise, noise. All shots I've taken indoors regardless of lighting or camera mode exhibit inexcusable levels of noise, worse than any other digicam I have owned (this is our 5th). Outdoor photos are not remarkable. Flash seems to be too strong most of the time and auto focus is unreliable regardless of the choice of metering method. xD memory cards are relatively expensive and rare. Special care (moreso than other cameras we've used) must be taken with finger placement so as not to block the flash.
Other Thoughts: We were hoping to replace our older Olympus Stylus 300 weatherproof camera since it's been great for worry-free beach shots as well as all-around purse/pocket transportation. This 830 is a huge disappointment. The weatherproof capability is pointless if the picture quality is lacking and unfortunately that's the case here. We will probably return this and eat the restocking fee and look to a different brand while holding on to the old Stylus just for those times when we know we'll be heading in to camera unfriendly environments.

Rating: 4/5amazing for the money
Pros: -Very Good Quality Picture (8 Mega Pixels) -Never Blurs (with flash on) -Lots of Features -Easy To Use -Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery -Surprisingly Small (fits into my pants pocket easily)
Cons: -No Regular Sight, Have to use LCD to line up shots -Uses xD Memory Cards which can get pricey, and are limited to 2GB -Doesn't use standard USB cable, have to use there cable
Other Thoughts: The xD cards isn't really that big of a down, though I didn't even think to check this until after I bought it. My laptop has a built-in read so I mostly use that instead of there propreitary cable. If you have the flash on you can take pictures while running and the will be perfect (no blurs) as long as you aim it right. Fast shutter speed.

Rating: 5/5Great Little Camera
Pros: Has all the features of the big boys but not the expence. The macro on this thing is off the hook. Works great in all light areas. The orange color is an eye catcher and looks GREAT! The battery life is not long but I can take take all the pics and video from a 2 GIG card before it dies so its not that bad.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Make sure you puirchase the extra battery for a few extra bucks. Also make sure you get the high speed Xi card for panoramic shots.

Rating: 3/5good but not great
Pros: The camera is small, responsive, well designed with good battery life. it takes great photos in good light conditions and has many different program modes to deal with common scenarios like behind glass, close up etc.
Cons: The camera creates a lot of noise in low light situations. It is also not good at handling moving images in moderate light. The flash is not powerful enough to illuminate any outdoor night scenarios, but this is not unusual for a mini camera like this.
Other Thoughts: At the end of the day, none of these small profile digital cams are great. I have tried canon, sony and olympus and each has some limitation, usually zoom, flash power and low light noise issues. Overall I would say this is an average camera on performance, but its size is really small, so you will have it in your pocket when you need it vs leaving the slr at home when you wish you had it.

Rating: 5/5I came, I saw, I bought
Pros: Apparently same as Olympus 830 Black, Green, Blue, whatever, only considerably cheaper. Quite satisified. I'm new to Newegg, fortunate I found the site. Ditto on cost of Olympus M+ 2GB picture card.
Cons: Nothing yet. I'm not looking too close into mouth of the gift horse. Dig? Seemingly I got a good camera, and a good picture card at a very reasonable price. I waiting for the leather case to be restocked, and possibly the Olympus metal neck chain. I guess it's true. One has to crack a few eggs for a good receipt. In this case a good purchase.
Other Thoughts: Informed, polite, prompt on line customer service. Will pass Newegg service, selection, prices on to others.
