Great Price to Features Value
- Pros: Things I really like about this camera. :
*It is the size of my cell phone + a little thickness *10 MegaPixel resolution *An unheard of 7x Optical Zoom for a camera it's size. *The 2.7" LCD is large, bright, and clear even outside *Light weight design even with the battery *Quick 2 hour recharge time on a long lasting batter *I can use cheaper MicroSD memory with the provided adapter. *It is packed with features and shooting modes ---Auto - Point and Shoot ---Manual - Adjust Options Freely ---Scenes - Pre-Selected Modes based on Environment ---Guided - List that sets camera settings based on what you want to do *2 Continuous Shooting Modes ---Standard - normal resolution w/ 1 to 2 second delay ---High Speed - 3 MP resolution w/ very almost no delay *Super Macro Mode - allows the camera to focus on objects less than an inch away *30 minute video clips
- Cons: Features I am not fond of:
*To use the onboard and computer panorama, art, and 3D features you must use an Olympus/Fuji Branded XD memory card ---The alternative is getting some photo "stitching" software *The highest video quality setting of 640x480 at 30fps allows only 10 second video clips ---A firmware update is now available, but only allows extended recording on XD Pictures Card (M+ or H) ---MicroSD cards may be solved by an eventual additional firmware update
- Other Thoughts: I was able to purchase a 4GB MicroSD memory card for $23 after shipping, compared to $30+ for a 2GB XD card or more for Olympus Brand. The 4GB works perfectly in the camera and allows for 1600+ pictures on 10 MP Normal quality. I ran my own test between fine and normal qualities, but did not find enough of a discernable difference to warrant the doubling of the file size.
I plan on taking the camera with me on a 2 week cruise in Europe. I wanted a camera with a great zoom, quality, and the ability to store all of my pictures on a single memory card. I feel I have found the perfect travel companion in this camera for size, quality, and weatherproofed travel conditions.
Overall I think this is a great camera and while I can't use the panorama mode on the camera, I can easily get some "stitching" software to create my own. I would recommend this camera to those that want a portable large zoom camera with a plethora of features for the basic to intermediate photographer.
Great Great Compact Camera
- Pros: This camera Olympus Stylus 1010 is full-packed with useful features and has an excellent image quality. I am a Canon lover. I owned three powershot SD550, SD600,& SD870 which I gave one each to my children as a birthday gifts. I thought that there could never be a better camera than Canon until I came across an article from a technical magazine featuring this Olympus Stylus 1010. Intrigued by the description of the writer, I searched, researched and finally bought one for me. All the beautiful things the writer wrote about the 1010 were indeed true. This camera outperformed the canon cameras in features, in image quality as well as in price.
- Cons: None as of this time.
- Other Thoughts: I like best the guide feature of the 1010 because it will teach you how to adjust the settings of your camera based on the environment. Anyone looking for cheap, compact, lightweight and quality image producing camera, this is it.

Blurry Pictures
- Pros: This camera is very compact and small. Easy to take anywhere. Takes great photos (only outside). When taking pictures without the flash, the image write time to them memory card is fast. The rechargeable battery lasts through several flashes before having to recharge.
- Cons: when taking pictures in low light or inside, about 90% of my pictures turned out blurry. Every single picture i took that had enough light to not have to use the flash turned out blurry. The pics taken with the flash that didnt turn out blurry, one person would be dark and the other would be light. I changed to multiple settings for indoor and low light and got the exact same image results. I even set the camera on a solid surface incase it was me moving or shaking while taking the picture, NO same result, an extremely blurry picture. I was truely dissappointed in Olympus. Their reputation led me on.
Barely had this camera 1 week and the lens stopped wanting to close all the way, I would have to tap it with my finger to get it to cover the lens.
- Other Thoughts: I should not have strayed away from cannon. I have a 4 year old bulky, low mega pixel, AA battery eating camera that could out perform this so called quality camera.
VERY GOOD CAMERA
- Pros: Way too many to list here cause i would just run out of room. BUY this if you want a good super compact camera with a ton of features and little to no compromise!
- Cons: Only con is that it requires the masd-1 adapter if you don't want to use their XD cards, although I prefer to use the cheaper and faster microSDHC flash memory.
- Other Thoughts: price just droped quite a bit but that happens. Also DO NOT LOOSE THE MASD-1 ADAPTER, it is somewhat hard to find another one.
great buy
- Pros: nice menu, very small, really good zoom and mega pixel combination.
- Cons: olympus makes it so u have to buy thier brand of memory unless u use the micro xD adaptor, make sure u dont throw it away, it's really small and may be missed in all the packaging.
- Other Thoughts: extremely good price, it's hard to find cameras with such high megapixels and zoom together. normally u have to sacrifice one.
