Just an ok camera for the $$$
- Pros: Very durable looking and definitly waterproof. It is a neat option to be able to snap pics underwater without any worries. Lots of options and features.
This camera takes very nice landscaope and scenery pics. Portriat shots are pretty good. I love the multi shot option.
- Cons: Takes TERRIBLE nighttime/low light pics. Almost useless for concert type pics.
I do alot of camping and it's dark 1/2 the time, so it makes this camera worthless unless you use the flash or it's daytime.
- Other Thoughts: This is my second Stylus and I was SUPER happy with my older Stylus, but this one leaves alot to be desired.
If I had it to do all over again, I might re-purchase this camera, but I would definitly shop around more.
Buy it for the durability
- Pros: First of all its water proof. Don't listen to the first review. I went through rapids (outside of the raft) with this camera in my pocket and then took videos with it. I loaned it to my friend for a fishing research project in Canada and he adores this thing. I loaned it to my other friend when she went out west camping, she also loved it.
The presets work well and I had no problem with the controls, the panorama is cool too! Except when the battery is low. Macro is decent, and again its water proof. The video feature is very handy and actually takes half decent videos when its cranked up to 30 fps.
- Cons: For under 300 one can't expect the most fantastic point and shoot camera in the world. The focus is a little bit slow, especially at night, the flash is a bit too bright so things get washed out. The smile trigger is neat but impractical. The zoom quality is mediocre at best and the image stabilization is not what I imagined it to be. Also is bright sunlight the UV hazes things. But I'm also used a fancy DSLR with the bells and whistles.
- Other Thoughts: Buy this camera for adventuring. I had a DSLR for a loooong time and decided to trade it in for this little guy because I would use it more often. If anything this should be a supplemental camera for the photophile. There are better point and shoot cameras out there but again, use it for its toughness. I have yet to test its ability to withstand cold; we will see when i go snowmobiling!
only good for unde water
- Pros: ok as an underwater camera.
easy to use when there is a lot of light it takes ok pictures.
- Cons: so SLOW to take a picture, by the time it captures it, whatever you wanted, even if it was a snail is gone. (Even slower on the dark).
The focus is strange, the software tries to look to much for faces, if you need to take anything without a face it doesn't know what to do. The quality of the picture in the darkness is terrible.
- Other Thoughts: It looks like a good camera at first, but I was well disappointment when I got it.
