4 out of 5 eggsGood Waterproof Camera

Pros: Waterproof, Good underwater flash, Good video

Cons: Little slow turning on

Other Thoughts: Does what I wanted...Water pictures and secondary video

3 out of 5 eggsJust a basic tough camera...

Pros: Waterproof, Shockproof, everything-proof, just like it states.

Cons: Difficult interface. Very slow to work around. Most normal shots can be blurry if you don't work the camera correctly (had to use a faster shutter speed to correct this)

Other Thoughts: Overall, not a terrible camera, but you can do better for your money. The waterproof/shockproof/everything-proof lives up to it's name, at the expense of quality shots. If you're looking for a starter tough camera, this is the way to go. Otherwise, look elsewhere!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent camera, nice pictures, some delay

Pros: Camera takes awesome pictures. Underwater shots clear and vivid depending on water clarity (we have used ours at a moderately murky lake with okay results from close range). Cannot speak to the advertised durability outside of every day use as we try to be kind to our electronics.

Cons: Moderately annoying delay when taking pictures even with the shutter half-depressed and ready to shoot. The delay is something that cannot be overcome with time and familiarity with the camera, but it does knock off an egg and take this out of the grab-point-shoot category. Secondarily, without the flash on the camera tends to take blurry pictures; it seems to work better by covering the flash and leaving it on then turning it off.

Other Thoughts: This camera is not perfect, but in the hands of a more experienced operator or someone interested in taking set-up shots it is very nice. The ability to take it under water is very nice for vacations and the advertised durability makes it a big win for when the kids want to run off with it. This is the second Olympus Stylus Tough we have owned. We preferred the earlier incarnation (Stylus 850 SW) and only replaced it because it developed a bright red artifact near the center of the picture. We would more than likely purchase another. If you are interested in this camera it is worth owning as the durability and water resistance are very nice features in a such a small form factor - but wait until it goes on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera for the price.

Pros: This camera is awesome... definitely worth very dime... so far this camera had survived 2 theme park, 1 mud race (rebel race). The most important part is the memories it captures when other normal camera can't.

Cons: Nothing so far. Met all my expectation. I found waiting ~5 -7 seconds for the camera to start up not very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: Smiles!~

1 out of 5 eggsbad product

Pros: looks tough

Cons: first time to own an olympus and it takes very bad pictures and i tried all settings , its really odd for it to have very good reviews coz its not worth my money to buy this item even at a discounted price ,i got this 2 months ago and now i cant return it at newegg and even more they discontinued selling this item.i trusted the good reviews and the fact newegg is selling it so i guess it was a good product but i was wrong i should have checked it and returned it right away.

5 out of 5 eggsProblems solved with firmware upgrade!

Pros: Good picture quality, good optical zoom, rugged construction, small size, lots of features and ease of use.

Cons: Fair battery life and slow start up time when received. No viewfinder. Picture quality declines in low light situations. Included battery charger only works with battery installed in the camera. A firmware upgrade with software on the Olympus web site dramatically improved the start up speed to less than 1 second.

Other Thoughts: I really like using this camera. It fits nicely into my shirt pocket and I can take it wherever I go, even in bad weather. If you are experiencing sluggish performance, be sure to upgrade the firmware with Olympus' easy to use application. Also a search on the internet will find you a battery/charger set for this camera for less than 10 bucks. At these prices I bought 2 chargers (one for my car) and three extra batteries - so I will never run out of power when I need it!

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Solid, durable, good image quality for a Point & Shoot (used to DSLR). Good video quality.

All ports are protected by the main "hatch".

Built-in Protective lens cover (important, since it's going to be used in hostile environments).

Rechargeable battery.

Price - Cheapest of any water/shockproof camera I found.

Cons: SLOW! My old sd600 (from 2005) takes 1.1 seconds from startup to shooting. This thing takes forever. You'll miss "those special moments" if you're not ready.

Yes you have a rechargeable battery, but you can only charge it when its INSIDE the camera (doesn't come with external charger). This means you CAN'T use it when it's charging, even if you have a spare. Really bugs me because I ALWAYS have 1-2 spare batteries for going on trips.

Other Thoughts: You have to remember to clean the lens. True for any regular camera, but moreso for these adventure-cams since they're more prone to get dirty & ruin your image quality.

Not really a con, but it doesn't float. Silly, I know, but to MAKE it float takes a substantial buoy (camera very heavy).

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the money.

Pros: Inexpensive. Cheap point and shoot, decent resoloution. Video is about what you would expect from something in this price range. Supposed to be rugged, no idea, I haven't dropped it yet.
The 3 stars is for the price.

Cons: Inconsistent operation.
The one I have will turn on the LCD when it is powerd on about 1/3 of the time. That would not be as annoying in a viewfiner camera, but if you want to pull it out of your pocket and snap a pic, it is useless randomly.

Other Thoughts: Neat little piece of tech.
