Pros: I've paired it with a Tamron 18-250 Di II A18NII zoom lens, a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight and a Patriot Iris 16GB SDHC Flash Card. Wow what a camera. What this baby will do is just amazing.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend David Busch's "Nikon D90 Guide to Digital SLR Photography" as a way to learn what you can do with this camera.

Pros: What can I say about this incredible piece of optical and electronic technology. Uses all Nikon lenses, Light, totally customizable. many shooting, exposure, flash, metering, aperture, speed modes to cover any situation. The auto mode is a good compromise for most offhand shots. Most experienced amateur photographers will use the aperture priority mode. The pictures from this camera are stunning and rival my old F with manual lenses.

Cons: Took me about 10 hours to learn the commands and options.

Other Thoughts: There are lots of lens choices, but get the 28-80 f3.3-5.6 g plastic hybrid Nikkor lens. It has a crummy looking plastic mount and isn't internal focus, so the lens ring turns when it focuses, making the use of polarizing filters difficult. But if you don't care about polarizing filters, it is amazing. Very light, quick to focus and incredibly sharp. Actually unbelievably sharp. Plus it is well under $100.00 used on auction sites. You'll find yourself using this lens anytime you demount the camera from a tripod and carry it around.

Cons: Honestly cannot think of any at this point.

Pros: Just look at all the 5-star (5-egg) ratings. The advantages over the less expensive options would be higher resolution LCD, an extra control wheel, ability to add battery pack with vertical controls, 4.5 fps, built-in focus motor to make use of auto-focus in older Nikon lenses.
Battery life is excellent.

Cons: Maybe price. If you are looking to dabble with a DSLR, you might be better off with a D5000 and kit lens. To really make use of this camera, carrying several lenses does the trick (each at its own price).
Weight. This is not a pocket camera and expect neck pain if you are going to try to use it as one. It is meant to shoot pretty much the entire time you are carrying it. Again, a D5000 or something else smaller similar would be more comfortable around your neck all day.
Video. It's only real purpose is to use "live view" which is nice when you can't look through the regular viewfinder; it is not a video camera.
Flash. The built-in flash pretty much stinks. I don't think I've ever really used it other than to see how bad it really was (but that is typical of ANY camera's built-in flash that I've ever seen). Get a hot shoe mount flash.

Other Thoughts: I've been shooting this for about 12 months and I've taken about 6000 shots. I have banged it around a little (never dropped though) and it doesn't show a scratch.
I'm using this with an SB-600 flash and I can't imagine not having that. I primarily shoot people indoors at parties or outdoors at night parites. The SB-600 is awesome.
You can't go wrong with this camera if it is the right market for you. I am a hobbyist and I've managed to spend well over $2K in total on my D90 setup after accessories. If that sounds like your ballpark for this investment, then this could be the one.

- Good menus, especially the "My Menus" feature
- Fast
- Very good controls for white balance and color management.
- And of course great picture quality

Cons: - No compact flash slot
- Buttons don't feel as solid as my old D50

Other Thoughts: This is a great camera. A definite step up from my D50. I am in the process of getting to know the technicalities of photography, and there is a lot of documentation and tutorials online for the D90. I matched this with a 18-200 f3.5-5.6 VR II and a 35mm f1.8, and I am really happy.

Get a good quality bag for this camera. I use a ThinkTank Speed Demon.

Pros: First of all, its from Nikon and NewEgg with NewEgg having one of the lowest prices out there. You Rock NewEgg. Great pictures. Backwards compatable with my old Nikon AF lenses. This takes the best photos yet of my Digitals and has reinvigorated my interest in photography. Love the 4.5 FPS continuous shooting mood. Almost instant on and minimal shutter lag. Can't tell you how frustrated I was with my previous digial camera because of this.

Cons: None that I have found.

Other Thoughts: I was specifically looking for backwards compat. with my older Nikon AF lenses and was considering a D5000 until I realized that my old lenses would not work with the D5000. This camera does it all for me.

Pros: need not say much about the product, service was excellent. product was sold out as soon as the 10% off was announced last week but price alert/auto notify emailed me when item was available. jumped on it right away. happy with everything. better than a blackfriday deal

Pros: Impressive device. It looks good and has a nice weight and feel to it. The menus are detailed but easily navigated and custom settings can be dialed-in quickly. Could not be happier with the purchase.

Cons: None have presented themselves in the first few hours of heavy "new toy" use.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my wife as an upgrade to her D40. Although I'm very tech oriented cameras are not my thing, so I know next to nothing about actually using all the bells and whistles on this device, but I can tell this is definitely a quality device. My wife is the real photographer in the family and she absolutely loves this thing. She's hardly put it down since the day it was delivered. Definitely not a device for the beginner but it was a good upgrade move from her D40. She has remarked more than once on how much easier it is to customize settings on the D90 due to a vastly improved menu setup. If you, or someone you know, are looking to upgrade to an intermediate level DSLR this should be on the short list.

Pros: The high ISO performance is AMAZING..

I have a D70s as well and am a wedding photographer. The ISO performance of that camera was my weak link. With the D90 that issue is a thing of the past. It is going to make weddings a breeze to shoot now.

Cons: Does not take compact flash memory.

This is only a con if you have a bag full of compact flash cards.

Other Thoughts: Bang for the buck this camera is top notch. I would highly recommend it to a seasoned pro or a beginner.
