4 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap "super-zoom" point and shoot

Pros: Very easy for casual/amateur photographers to use. Pretty much all the settings are automated; just pick the scene and you are good to go.

"Sport continuous" setting works well for fast paced shots, or shots that are continuously coming out blurry, but are often grainy (not much you can do about that without buying an SLR though).

I love that you can just flip the flash down when you don't want it. I only use the flash when absolutely necessary, and I hate having to change a camera's settings every time I turn it on to keep the flash off.

Movie mode is adequate for me. I didn't buy this for movies, but it's nice for shooting short clips. The .MOV format sucks and the 30 min limit is kinda lame, but nothing worth taking off eggs for.

Cons: Even with image correction, shots are often blurry. Get used to taking multiple shots to get one you like, or carry a tripod with you. The macro setting will often help out with reducing blurry shots, even if its not a close up.

Auto white balance selection is garbage. Pick a setting manually or have it measure the white balance whenever you change lighting.

No viewfinder, but no big deal for me.

Other Thoughts: Runs on 4 AA batteries. Pro or Con depending on your view. Pro for me because on vacation we don't always have quick access to a power outlet. It's easier for me to carry around extra lithiums instead.

Bought it for my Peru vacation. My old Canon Powershot just didn't have the zoom capability for things like bird-watching shots in the rainforest, so I picked up this.

This is essentially a point and shoot with an awesome zoom feature. It's not an SLR, and it's not geared towards pros. As long as this is understood, I believe that this is a great buy for the money.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: I've owned this camera for a few days now, i've read the manual so i understand the controls and i must say that there is a lack of manual controls which is fine if you want a simple point and shoot camera
but this is almost a top of the line point and shoot which makes me want more features.
To many auto settings and no way to manually set ISO
you can only select different scene types, though you can enter macro mode which is great for close up shooting.
you can set exposure compensation which increases or decreases the white balence.
no RAW capability but for the money i wouldn't expect that.

Cons: Images aren't as crisp and sharp as my $69.00 kodak point and shoot lol

Other Thoughts: the 720P video is well worth it, it is good enough for anyone that is an ameture.
i will spend the money to get an entry level DSLR for $500.00
