3 out of 5 eggsnot too bad but

Pros: It has better specs than my current older and first digital (DiMage) camera bought several years ago. The display is larger and nice for such a small camera. It has lots of settings. Relatively easy to use and set up.

Cons: Physically it is hard to handle with its smooth somewhat rounded case. It is easy to accidently cover a sensor or light or whatever on the camera front. I cannot see the files on the memory card except by using the software which came with the camera. This required buying a usb card adapter. For its relatively high resolution cf. my older camera, the pictures do not seem much better.

Other Thoughts: For the low price when purchased (under 90$) I am still hoping for ease of use and adequate pictures as I use it more. So it seems reasonable for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsWhat to say...

Pros: Nice Price when on sale.
Compact and not bad to look at.

Cons: This thing takes some of the worst pictures I have ever seen on a modern digital camera. Seriously...

Other Thoughts: No matter what settings I tweaked the pictures almost always came out blurry and orange. I'm not sure if the camera I received has a bad lighting sensor but even pictures taken outside, under full daylight looked like they were taken under a heating lamp.
Forget taking a picture of children. Blurs e'rywher'.
The response time is terrible. 3+ seconds to take a pic and then freezes on the image preview screen for another 3 (this can be turned off, but still).
The couple clear pictures I did seem to get out of it (still images taken on a tripod) were very nice, besides the color. The screen from this has nothing on my f31fd from 2007! In fact nothing on this rivals my f31fd besides the pixel count, which obviously isn't everything.

4 out of 5 eggsFine camera

Pros: I upgraded to this from a 4MP camera and WOW - what a difference. I use it to document model airplane builds and take pictures outdoors. I took a picture of a boat house on the river and it is so nice I am thinking of getting it enlarged and framed. It charges when you download pictures and so far it has never needed more chage time.

Cons: Sometimes in indoor lighting the pictures look yellow, but there is a white balance feature where you can set it by pointing a white object and telling the camera that is white. It should be emphasised more. My daughter didn't like the camera until I showed her that feature.

Other Thoughts: I paid about $109 for the camera and at $75 it is a steal.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Point and shoot

Pros: Quick camera speed (assuming your SD card is of sufficient class)
Macro focus works quite well
easy-to-navigate menus
Fits in your pocket

Cons: Image stabilization in low light is pretty bad (but that's pretty much the case for all P&S's).
Nikon lifetime warranty not the greatest.

Other Thoughts: Compared this and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH25. Ended up buying the Nikon as I was going on a trip within a couple days, needed a camera, and it was locally available. Intended on returning it after the trip and exchanging for the Lumix, but was really happy with the picture quality, so kept it. Was able to try out the Lumix about a month later and was even happier that I kept my Nikon.
Walmart sells this camera for the $75 price Newegg is currently listing it for; additionally WM sells the s4100 (full 1080p video support, and a touch screen) for even cheaper, though the ratings for it are unimpressive.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T BUY THIS CAMERA!

Pros: NONE

Cons: My 1.5 MP phone takes better pictures.

Other Thoughts: Nikon should be ashamed to have its name on this camera.
