3 out of 5 eggsNot bad, but look at Canon.

This review is from: Nikon D3200 Black 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & Wi-Fi Connectivity

Pros: Not a bad entry camera, great looking photos in RAW, 24 megapixel, lightweight, easy to access memory card and decent battery life.

Cons: Does not have the capability to live tether to computer (such as Lightroom or Nikon's Camera Control), doesn't have AEB (auto exposure bracketing) for HDR photos, no modified firmware for extra features.

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad camera for 'normal' use. If you are trying to start out as a studio photographer or if you want to do some serious artistic photography, look at Canon's DSLRs. You can get more features and accessibility [typically] at a lower price when going with Canon.

5 out of 5 eggsI am enjoying it!

This review is from: Nikon D3200 Black 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & Wi-Fi Connectivity

Pros: I was told that this is the best dslr for beginners and I think it is really good. I am learning all the iso, shutter speed, aperture, etc and my photo quality is getting better! it is fun and easy.

Cons: It only comes with the body and lens (and battery, charger, and some cords for connecting to computer..).. you will have to buy the tripod and camera bag separately.

Other Thoughts: shipping was delayed by about a week due to the ice/snow storm.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upper-entry level DSLR

This review is from: Nikon D3200 Black 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & Wi-Fi Connectivity

Pros: Extremely high pixel count
Extremely high picture quality
Decent kit lens considering you get it for "free"
Excellent battery time
Good value considering the quality of this camera... it's expensive, sure... but that's the price you pay for DSLR

Cons: No real cons I can think of. Doesn't have some of the on-camera filter modes and effects that the higher end D5x00 series has, but then again, they are much pricier.

Other Thoughts: I bought this camera at a different retailer, but I wanted to write a review here since Newegg is my go-to place for most of my electronic purchasing (and review writing/reading).

I bought this for me and my wife, as we are expecting the birth of our first child in September. My wife always wanted to learn "real" photography (i.e., not just point-and-shoot), so I figured I'd take the leap with this high quality entry level DSLR.

First of all, this thing takes beautiful pictures... even with the kit lens and even on regular "Auto" (point and shoot) settings. On top of that, it has a "Guide" mode to help new aspiring photographers. You answer some questions, and it provides you with suggested optimized settings, and tells you why it picked them/what they are. Very helpful for newbies like us.

As far as the more "professional" features go (the "priority" modes: P, S, A, and M), most of the functionality of higher end cameras are there. Coupled with better glass, this is a formidable small body DSLR.

Another strong suit of this camera is 1080p full HD video recording. Videos look terrific, although if you don't have a steady hand or a tripod, it can look a little "bouncy"... also the autofocus can sometimes be a little erratic in video mode. Overall, though, these issues are fairly common for video shot from cameras like this.

Bottom line:
I'm very happy with my purchase. I have so much fun with this camera (I think even more than my wife does!), and can't wait for our newest "test subject" to be born in September!

I definitely recommend this camera for anyone who wants to get into higher end DSLR photography, without taking a huge 4-figure leap into something new. Great entry level shooter!

3 out of 5 eggsnikon d3200

This review is from: Nikon D3200 Black 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & Wi-Fi Connectivity

Pros: some what quite focus moter (very important when recording video because the mic will pick that up when recording) great out door camera for taking lanscapes and sporting events.

Cons: horrible in low light, contrasting/ close up shots... thats only because the mega pixels are all jammed togeather leaving the outer edge of your subjuct blurry and misscolored. for example if i took a picture of a baseball up close you can see a blurry red ring around the white part.

Other Thoughts: honestly you dont need that many megapixels. they just did that because the average consumer sees more megapixels and thinks its a great camera. if thats so why does nikon and cannon sell $3,000 cameras with 12-18 megapixels. but overall a decent camera.

5 out of 5 eggsSemi-pro

This review is from: Nikon D3200 Black 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & Wi-Fi Connectivity

Pros: True 24.1 mp resolution
Guide mode (useless for me)
faster shutter mechanism (way better than D5100's)

Cons: No scene\effects from D5100
No HDR
No Bracketing

Other Thoughts: After purchasing 3 different cameras from 3 different sellers from 3 different sites and receiving 3 defective products, I gave up and tried Newegg. When I hooked up the lens, I saw smaller dust specs on the viewfinder. I used giottos blower and it took care of it. It wasn't as bad as the other 3 I had received but my obsessive compulsive brain gets in the way...

This is for my intern so he can learn photography from the beginning.

Flawless camera for starters...

I also bought a 55-300mm lens because the Combo Deal was irresistible, though I have 70-300mm SIGMA APO(soft focus at 250-300).

To add - also ordered different lenses which I were either damaged or mishandled.

None of this happened with newegg. Thanks!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Camera

This review is from: Nikon D3200 Black 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & Wi-Fi Connectivity

Pros: Nikon quality
many features for the "beginner" and "pro" alike
easy to get up and running quickly but plently of options to make it a great learning tool for a long time into the future
Obviously -- the greatest it enables me to take some fantastic shots

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Love to take short movies with it. Excellent quality.
