My opinion...

white Reviewed By: on 8/7/2007
Rating + 4
Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Good picture quality, nice lenses and great zoom.
Cons: To be honest, for this much money I was expecting much better quality. My brand new verizon trio cell phone takes pictures that nearly match the resolution of this camera for less than 1/10th the price.

Furthermore, I compared the quality of this camera's pictures printed out to the ones that I had developed at W*l-M**t from a disposable camera and they were comparable to say the least. Spend the money elsewhere.
Other Thoughts: Get something a little cheaper.

Best 35mm format available today

white Reviewed By: Proshooter on 9/1/2006

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: As of early September 2005 this is the very cutting edge of digital camera technology in a 35mm based format. The quality of the build, the image sensor producing stunning resolution and the full range of controls and options makes this a camera without peer. A full size sensor allows the use of wide angle lenes at the full width of their view. It also allows narrow depth of field which smaller sensors do not. Lastly it allows you the option of cropping images without signifcant sacrifices in enlagement options. System is said to be water proof, like very briefly "under water proof", but I've decided not to test that feature with my camera.
Cons: If you are considering this camera you should know that it performs best with Canon's top level "L" lenses. I recommend the 16-35L, 24-70L and the 70-200L IS to get the very best image quality. Also note that this is a heavy camera built on a milled out solid Magnesium shell. It is big and heavy, not ideal for taking vacation shots. The sensor is delicate and somewhat difficult to clean. Dust is attracted to the sensor since it is charged and switching lenese introduces dust to the mirror box and the sensor during exposure.
Other Thoughts: I am a full time professional photographer. After investing in this system (with a full set of lenses) I have not shot another frame of film with my medium format Hasselblad system in nearly 2 years. The resolution of this camera with quality lenses rivals my Hassy system and Zeiss lenses. Adding the convienience of instant feedback and image confirmation and cost savings of no need for film processing and scans this camera system was an easy choice. IMHO Price+Service =Value, overall I think NewEgg offers the top value in this type of product.
