horrible software
- Pros: Great camera, amazing picture, fairly simple buttons and menus
- Cons: The editing software stinks dont plan on doing anything but moving it from the camera to the pc with this software. the software does work with Windows 7 though so thats a plus.
Best Cam EVER!
- Pros: Great picture. Works well in low light. Full Auto(Easy) settings work very well and make is easy to shoot any situation.
- Cons: If your new to the file format then you better do some research. All recordings are saved as AVCHD in individual scenes and must be joined together to make a movie. Software is very basic and limited in what it can do. Battery life is to be desired.
- Other Thoughts: Like I said if your a newbie with the new file format or more comfortable with analog tape style stuff then get over it this the new way. I was very unhappy at first until I stubbornly look at the direction and discovered how to use it.
1080p/30 on the cheapi(ish)
- Pros: Excellent image quality. 1080p/30 option. Decent manual options. Accurate color.
- Cons: Accessory cost is pretty crazy. Narrow field of view, but the wider angle adapter fixes that.
- Other Thoughts: Running this on Win7 X64 and Sony Vegas.
I've been a big canon fan since my first real digital camera. This flash based camcorder is a great unit. I tried the Panasonic equivalent but the colors were all cartoonish and over saturated while the 1080p mode was useless with tons of blur and artifacts.
Canon is great. If you want another option: look at Sony, my last HD cam was a fist gen Sony unit and it was also excellent.
