1 out of 5 eggsEric

Pros: It was a cool green color and took 100 pictures

Cons: Broke twice (dreaded Lens Error)
Unreliable
Waste of money after Canon refused to repair for "water damage"
Lasted 2-3 months

Other Thoughts: Went with a Nikon CoolPix L110 and I love it. I can't disprove that it didn't have water damage but thing was sitting broke on my shelf for months. I think they just wanted to stop sending me broken cameras. Do not recommend to anyone.
Don't waste your money and get a quality camera.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice camera

Pros: This is a very nice camera, I was undecided between this Canon. And the SD1200 model. But decided on this one because of the combo deal offered by newegg. After reading all the reveiws of both camera models. I have found that the:
Powershot A1100 IS is $20 cheaper than the DS 1200 model. But like mentioned above the combo deal was the main diffence.
I am a novice camera user, and because of that some of these reviews I think some people seem to expect more then what this camera is made for.
Other differences between this and the DS1200 are:

PowerShot A1100 IS: has better Optical Zoom 4X, conpared to SD1200: 3X

PowerShot A1100 IS: has more MP 12, compared to
SD1200: MP 10

The only really difference that I see that the SD1200 has over the PowerShot A1100 IS is: 230K LCD, compared to the 115K LCD

And the SD1200 has a longer battery life, between charges. ( but the PowerShot A1100 IS: battery life is still decent. Just not longer then the SD1200 model

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: If you are a novice picture taker than this camera is more then enough.

But if you are a professional, than you might want to spend a lot more money for a high end model.

All-in-All this camera will do everything you need it to do.

4 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Coming Soon!

Pros: good pics-easy to use even for a novice like me. like the settings to take pics in snow, kids and pets, fireworks, landscapes, etc. read the directions and it is easy to do anything with this camera-ease of downloading pics and video is nice.

Cons: i wanted the color PURPLE like the a1000 was and called canon but they didn't have any paint left. the 128 mb card will only hold 39 pics or 1 min. of video so get another card. get batts for digital camera or rechargeable ones. did i mention i wanted PURPLE!!!!!

Other Thoughts: i did my research of all digital point and shoot cameras for 6 mos. and chose this one. do your research of different reviews from different websites and make the choice that's right for you. i hope this helps

1 out of 5 eggsNot what I thought.

Pros: Great picture quality.

Cons: You have to wait for the flash to recharge before taking next picture ever time you take a picture. This is very rediculous. With today's technology why does the flash have to recharge every time I take a picture. The next shot delay is not as fast as promised and is actually very slow.

Other Thoughts: Not as advertised.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Works as advertised. Comes with 128K SD card, all cables, documentation, software, initial batteries.

Cons: only 3X optical zoom, a little slow on the cycle time.

Other Thoughts: Bought a pink and green from Newegg for my daughters for Christmas. Also bought 4G SD cards and cheap 4" tripods. They love them, took like 700 pictures of the dogs......they love the colors.
Buy rechargeable batteries.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent camera for the price

Pros: great price. easy to use. has many features you won't find in a camera for that price. the pictures are as a good as any canon i've owned. the canon software is great, as usual.

Cons: i wish canon would take the lead and add a more tactile grip to these cameras since i always feel like i'm going to drop it at any second. the printed manual should have included more details about the camera use. it is difficult to manually control the focus for some shots and some of the settings are overly complicated. the zoom and autofocus are a bit slow but only a tad more than the sd1100 i had. I don't know if i would use this for indoor sports shots unless you had great lighting.

Other Thoughts: i don't normally leave a review because i'm a leech, but when i saw this on sale and saw some of the negative comments, i felt compelled to respond. i'm not a digiphile but i used to own an sd1100 which i liked so well i gave to my son. then my canon xti was stolen, but i didn't want to shell out a lot of money for another camers, so when i bought this a couple of months ago i was skeptical that i would get anything close to those. not so. this camera is great for the price. it's not nearly as easy to control as the xti or sd1100 but it has has everything you need in basic family and occasional use camera and in that mode, takes pictures just as good as those other canon brands. does use up batteries fast but i went to the air show with 4 nimh batteries (1800) and had power left over from a whole day of shooting, so your mileage may vary.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor picture quality-worst canon ever bought

Pros: Compacts size
Takes regular AA batteries
Image stabilization

Cons: Starters, Picture quality is worst than any other digicam I ever owned, including old canon A70, A80, Sony S85, Sony V1, S410, A610 even some random Kodak cameras I returned because of bad quality.

White Balance is worst of any Canon Camera
Too much noise even at lowest ISO
Auto focus is very slow

Other Thoughts: I am surprised people even liked this camera, claim it excellent picture quality.

I currently use a Canon XS slr and A610, and just bought a S90. (canon HV20 cam too).Pretty much I am fan of Canon camera, but this one, it is not at all acceptable.

I understand it is a cheaper camera which I bought it for teenager use, but for same price you could find other Digicam with better quality for sure, or can could a pick one of those used Canons.

4 out of 5 eggsJust OK for a Canon

Pros: Excellent size. Fits easily into a pocket (or purse), yet is not so small as to be difficult use the controls or get hands in the way of lens, flash, or sensors. Good feature set and easy to operate.

Cons: The biggest con is not being able to use rechargeable batteries. Even 2650 and 2700 mAh NiMh batteries in excellent condition will only produce a few pictures before failing. These same batteries seem to last forever in Canons' 4-battery models, but I guess the 2-battery models require higher voltage, rather than current.
In addition, this camera only takes average quality pictures for a Canon. All other Canon cameras I have used took somewhat better pictures, even if just marginally better, like the ones produced by a 5MP Canon A680.

Other Thoughts: I am reasonably satisfied with this camera. It was the one I could afford at the time. I believe that today I would likely purchase the SD 1200 IS, as I have seen it for around $140 as of late. It would have been my choice before, but for the $200 price tag.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: First let me just say that newegg is amazing shipping was SOO fast! Second camera is exactly what I wanted and expected. I had the canon powershot a 560 before and was extremely sad when my toddler broke it. This camera seems to be very similar. Lightweight, compact, zoom is great. Settings will take a bit to get used to.

Cons: Memory card is right by the batteries and the design has some flaws. screen size is average.

Other Thoughts: Rec. New Egg and canon to anyone!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Camera For The Price!!!

Pros: THE PRiCE!! Canon is selling this same exact Camera on their website for $200. And that's before even adding things like Tax..Shipping..etc. After that probably I'd say at least $220. + I don't even know if Canon would even Include an SD Memory Card and Free Batteries for you either like New Egg is doing for you right here for $130. That's a savings of at least $90 Dollars!! Isn't that Exciting?! You bet your pants it is. Because New Egg is giving you a Great Opportunity of nabbing up this Blazing Deal so that you can take some Amazing 12MP Photos yourself like many others are doing for a much more affordable price than anywhere else. And the Pix do always turn out just fine for me too with amazing clarity just as long as you program the cam. It's not that hard to do. And just screw the cam on a cam stand like Kodak Gear and the Pix never turn out blurry again! Tons of features. Can even record an hours worth of Video. And the Memory Card lets you store plenty of photos!

Cons: This isn't really a con..but just thought I'd add this anyhow. The camera eats up batteries a tad bit fast..especially the kind that comes with this cam..but that's fine..because there are things called rechargeable batteries that are specifically designed for digital cameras to last 2 times as long as your average normal every day alkaline type batteries. Which I'd go with the rechargeable type if you can. A bit expensive though for my taste. So I stick with other types such as for instance: Panasonic Oxyride Extreme Power Batteries now. Get 4 for $4 at your local DG Store. And they last twice as long as the Regular Panasonic Alkaline Batteries that come with the Cam. Duracells work really well as well as I have experimented with different types. So just make sure to get the right type of batteries that are specifically designed for use in a digital camera. You'll notice on the back of the Battery Package what their designed use is for. So just keep that in mind and you should be good

Other Thoughts: Think of it as being a Sniper..you need to keep your hand steady to take a shot, right? Of course you do. So you just need a Camera Stand to screw the Digital Camera onto so that your hand will be steady on the Cam so that when you press the shiny little silver button the Cam will be fully stable to take clean shots right on every time without any wavering or blurriness attached to any photo. And you can get Camera Stands for cheap from all over. And the SD Slot next to the Battery Input I feel is just to keep everything all in one place for convenience and overall ease of use. Suits me just fine. That way all I have to do is just simply open a single compartment on the bottom and install either batteries or card in the same convenient store space. Why make 2 Compartments when you need but only one? Makes sense doesn't it. But of course it does. And that's about it.
