Great Point and Shoot
- Pros: The zoom is excelent for such a small camera and IS works great even when fully zoomed in.
Tons of shooting modes to play with and manual mode has enough control that you'll be able to get a good range of shots. I've made some cool shots with the single color and the swap colors shooting modes.
Camera looks and feels great just small enough that you can carry it around without much problem.
The flash is really really bright when you turn it up to max, it has 3 levels and is pretty easy to switch between them.
Build quality feels very solid the battery and USB/HDMI doors are a little plasticy feeling but seem like they will hold up if you take care of them.
Pictures look good color is great and provided you get the right settings they can be quite sharp and clear.
The camera is ready to shoot very quickly about 1 second from when you power it on to when you can shoot a pic way better than any PnS digital camera I've ever used.
- Cons: Auto mode is good but tends to up the ISO in low light so you'll get some noise was worried when I tooks osme test shots at first but as I figured out the right settings and turned the flash up the noise problem went away.
The 720p video wasn't as sharp as I was hoping, it's nice and it is way better than SD video and still looks great on my HDTV but you won't be tossing out your dedicated camcorder yet.
No option to shoot in raw or super fine pictures still look good without it but I would like the options to be there.
- Other Thoughts: It's a very solid effort from canon for a compact super zoom and despite the minor problems I have with it I am still very happy with purchasing it.
I'm hoping that like other canon cams before it there's a firmware update weather official or hacked that puts super fine and raw in.
Had some problems, 2 different cameras
- Pros: 12x optical zoom, image stabilization, Manual controls, 720p video, lots of features in a relatively small body.
- Cons: Well I don't know if I just have bad luck or what, but my first sx200 developed a chunk of about 30pixels that were stuck on red, and right in the middle of the frame. my second sx200 was returned after I only took about 20 pictures, and found 2 very noticeable hot pixels near the center of the frame. Maybe it is just me, but I think that a camera that I pay $350 for should arrive in perfect condition. Also I noticed that there was substantial purple fringe at both wide and telephoto with this camera. Just to top things off I feel that this 12MP sensor is very noisy. Side by side pictures with my old Canon sd1000, and this sx200, the old sd1000 is less noisy and sharper. This is what happens when you cram 12MP on the same size sensor. I have been a canon enthusiast for 15 years, and I am more than irritated with this purchase.
- Other Thoughts: Hopefully others are having better luck than me.

I'm impressed.
- Pros: x12 zoom is very useful.
Built very solid and high quality.
Battery lasts long enough for most uses.
- Cons: Noise in the images (high megapixel)
Uses a cannon rechargeable battery, not 2 AA's.
- Other Thoughts: Firmware update gives some great features.
Great Camera/Good Combo Deal
- Pros: This is our first digital camera. The camera has been great as expected. Took very clear action shots of my little girls soccer match. Not blurry at all. The Auto Setting for exposures has worked great so far and was the selling point for my wife who has had issues trying to pick the right one at times.
- Cons: Not having the 2G or 4G memory stick not included with the camera.
- Other Thoughts: Did a lot of research before choosing. The NEWEGG combo with the full sized tri-pod, LCD protective cover, extra battery, and 4G memory stick was cheaper than if I had bought them seperately. Almost like getting the tripod for free. The other stuff in the combo probably won't get used.
- Pros: I loved this camera. It did a wonderful job with zoom, and the 12.1MPs really show in the final results. I got great color and the shooting speed was much better then my precious nikon. Before I bought it I noticed people complaining about the flash position, it didn't bother me at all. The settings are important, especially when the light is dim/ indoor, so experiment with them. Overall great camera
