4 out of 5 eggsAlmost small enough to eat

Pros: Small size, quick start-up speed, 720p video.

Cons: Not great at low-light, it could take pictures a little faster.
Playback menus can be touchy/confusing at first

Other Thoughts: Size and rounded edges make it easy to pocket or grab.
It turns on ready to take pictures or video in just a couple seconds.
Switching to video/photo is an external switch and very accessible.
It is small enough to think of as snack food when it's so close to your face, like when you are looking through the viewfinder.
The viewfinder is practically useless but is kind of quaint- the LCD does a fine job showing the frame of the photo.
I carry this camera in my bag or on my person pretty much all of the time.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect on the go

Pros: This is a great little powerhouse camera for it's small form factor. Fits in your pant or shirt pocket. I'm a pilot and always carry a camera with me. Even though I wish I could bring a DSLR every trip, going through TSA with this tiny thing is a much more pleasant experience.

Don't let it's size fool you. I have spent over 3 months looking for the perfect point and shoot. This included much more expensive LEICA, Ricoh and other brands.

The color spectrum it captures is beyond my expectations. Very vivid not only in it's still photo's but also in the 720P video it takes.

Start up time was very important to me and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Great for macro photo's or any everyday trip. Low lighting pictures are very nice!

Battery life is SUPERIOR!

I have also looked at some of Canon's successors to this model, but the lens on this thing beats most of them. I bought it for $269 you can now get it for $166 with the mothersday coupon

Cons: - Low lighting video not that great and no zoom during video
- Sorta flimsy USB cover
- No timelapse video function like the older models. I miss that!

Other Thoughts: Simply put you CANNOT go wrong with this thing. Everytime people see my pictures they always ask me which DSLR camera I have =) it still amazes me to this day.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Small and light weight. Great Flash, HD Video and Great pictures.

Cons: You need small hands, the buttons are somewhat small. The standby mode of the picture mode seems grainy. However, when you take a picture it is very clear (fully zommed in on computer and on camera).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent point & shoot

Pros: Beautiful screen, takes excellent pictures & video, has a decent array of functions.

Cons: A couple of things that annoyed me from time to time: the thumb switch to go between automatic, manual and video wasn't ideal and I have medium sized hands. Also it can take pictures pretty quickly except when using the flash which is to be expected, but sometimes it seemed excessive.

Other Thoughts: Overall I love this camera as the things that get to me are not that bothersome and I would definitely recommend it to a friend looking for a small point & shoot.

Found out that Cannon has an excellent parts warehouse you can call to get certain parts for cameras for a great price; replaced the screen for about $40 bucks including shipping after cracking it at work.

Pros: Small, Lightweight, Takes great looking pictures, Records 720p HD video

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Camera

Pros: Great Picture
Compact Size
Easy Menu
It's a Canon
Sleek looking

Cons: My one big issue with the camera is the buttons, The home menu and the directional buttons are a little hard to navigate especially if you have big fingers, even my wife who has much smaller hands has complained about the navigation menu.

Other Thoughts: I have always bought Canon's when it comes to compact camera's they have been very reliable and have taken better pictures than some other cameras that i have purchased. ( olympus, sony, Nikon) my last Canon was a 3.2 MP elph and i used that many times over my sony DSC H10. I hope i have them same luck with the SD 780, and so far so good, i would recomend this camera to my friends and family

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Camera is extremely small (true pocket size), I really like the look of it. 720P video recording is great.

Cons: Disappointing picture quality (when viewed in full size).
Initially I thought there might be something in the settings I need to adjust to make the pictures look better, but after some playing around with the settings and reading reviews online, it turns out that is not the case, the problem is somewhere between the software and the digital processor.
Pictures taken with this camera look good when viewed on the camera's LCD screen or when viewed at small resolutions, but if you view the picture in full size (4000 x 3000 or whatever resolution was set) then one can clearly see the high noise level, fuzzy edge and flare in the picture. It looks like many other Canon cameras using the same digital image processor (DIGIC 4) suffer the same problem.
Note: adjusting the settings does improve the picture quality a bit, but it still doesn't look good.

Other Thoughts: I bought this camera thinking it will be a nice replacement for my old SD300 and Creative Vado HD, while the 720P video quality is pretty good, the picture quality is just unacceptable by my standard. Needless to say, I will be returning this camera.

5 out of 5 eggsHad to buy for a friend

Pros: I took my RED powershot sd780 to work to show it off one day and it turned alot of heads! Infact one guy loved it so much he asked me to order him this one (black sd780). This this has every feature you could want and more. HD video that blows any other point and shoots 640x480 video away. Even watching the videos on my monitor @ 1920x1080 it still looks crisp. Great camera recommend for everyone!

Cons: Get a small leather case with a strap for it. I had it in my hoodie pocket and it hopped right out and cracked the LCD screen. Cost me about $75 to fix it (sent it to Canon repair, they were quick to repair it too, cheaper than replacing entire camera!).

Other Thoughts: Everyone seems to be listing their systems these days so here it goes:
RAIDMAX Scorpio case | Corsair 650w | Asus p6T mobo | Intel i7 920 (Quade-core @ 2.66GHz) | ZEROtherm core 92 heatsink w/fan | G.Skill DDR3 1600 3x1GB Gaming Memory (upgrading soon) | 2x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB 7200RPM 32mb Cache Hard drives | Asus 22x DVD burner | 2x EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB DDR3 Video Cards running in SLI | all in one memory card reader | Hanns-G 25" Widescreen LCD | Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: Great quality HD video, great quality pictures, awesome autofocus for close-ups, very good battery life, good pocket size, pretty easy to use UI

Cons: Viewfinder sucks, leveled buttons can be difficult to hit

Other Thoughts: For what you pay it's a great little camera. The video and picture quality is definitely up to par for this class.
