Pros: Compact, Takes amazing pictures, HD video recording, and this camera is extremely durable. See other thoughts
Cons: Doesn't have the wide angle lense like the SD880 IS and only has a 3X optical zoom, but its compact size and style more than make up for it.
Other Thoughts: I had this camera for about a week before my first mistake, I dropped it outside my car and didnt realize it till the next day by this time it had rained when I found it the camera was full of water. I took it inside and got as much water as I could out of it. After a few hours I I put the battery back in and it still worked. About a week later I lost it again due to alcohol consumption I wrote it off as gone till a friend called me and told me he found it outside in his yard about 2 weeks after I had lost it and it still works flawlessly. Canon sure can make a durable camera and if your in the market for a extremely compact, durable and one that takes great pictures this is the camera!!

Great little camera

Pros: Great little camera, and I do mean little. It's about the size of a credit card, but it's very sturdy. Takes great pics and movies. Got tired of lugging my Nikon Coolpix 5700 around...
Battery life is great. I appreciate the review by the guy who got drunk and dropped it outside. That kind of sturdyness helped seal the deal.
Cons: My only complaint is that the door for the battery and flash card are flimsy plastic, while the rest of the camera is metal. Very minor complaint...
Other Thoughts: I'd skip the combo deals. The flash card you get is very slow. This camera really performs with a good fast card. Plus who really needs a lens cleaner for a lens this small. I'd get an extra battery. The camera comes with no card, but does come with a charger.

Pros: Compact is an understatement. This Camera is incredibly small. The quality of the images is astounding and the video recording is better than some camcorders, I still can't believe it.
I love the metal construction, its very solid and the battery life is good. The quality of design on this camera gives me much respect for Canon.
Cons: screen had one dead pixel but it doesn't really bother me.
Other Thoughts: Camera operation is very fast.

Canon what's happened to you?

Pros: I have owned many of Canon's products, such as the SD400 and the SD1100IS. I have also worked with the SD450 and the SD550.
The camera is very tiny, probably the smallest I have seen and also has a nice feel to it. It's very fast responding to environments and powering up. The video quality is also very good with a recognizable format. The manual functions available are plenty. The camera includes all the accessories needed to start using it right away, but make sure to get a nice SDHC chip.
Cons: Super Blurry pictures. I returned the 1st one thinking it was a lens problem, but no, it's just the camera. I tried everything possible including taking maybe around 50 pictures in different lighting environments, ISO speeds, etc. I compared the pictures to my Canon SD400, SD1100 IS and my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. The SD780 had the worst shots in most environments. Even in a sunny day, the leaves on trees are all blurry as if the camera cannot focus properly.
What has happened to Canon? Looks like I am not the only one who thinks that the SD400s and 500s were awesome cameras and the quality gradually started degrading with the newer cameras.
Other Thoughts: I was not satisfied at all with this camera so I ended up purchasing the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 which has amazed me in every way.
