5 out of 5 eggsOnce Amateur, Now Amatuer+

Pros: A nice transition camera for a point & shoot user wanting a better picture and more options. Although the settings and functions will seem overwhelming, you can start taking good quality pictures immediately and learn as you go. Comes with a basic lens that will satisfy the point & shooter. Has the ability to upgrade to a EF-S zoom lens (bought one of those too)

Picture quality is amazing compared to any point & shoot.
Tons of optional accessories (see cons)
Good battery life
Tons of documentation
Fair learning curve
Good price for bundle

Cons: Not really a con for this product, but a con for Newegg. I decided to purchase some more accessories for this camera, but NE's stock is limited. I had to go to a competitor. You forced my hand, otherwise I try to stay out of the rainforests (<--hint)

Other Thoughts: If you have a graduation, Wedding, Birthday, etc... Sure, you can whip a point & shoot camera out of your pocket and snap some stuff suitable for facebook. Or you can get this and take some pictures that are suitable for a photo album, and everyone will be asking you for copies

Pros: This camera, so far has been wonderful. Even in the hands of someone inexperienced with good cameras it produces great pictures. I can't recommend it for professional photographers, because I'm not that talented, but in the hands of beginners or people looking to learn it's great.

Cons: It would've been nice if it came with a few more things like lens cleaning tools or something. I hate having to buy all of that separate.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst DSLR

Pros: This is my first DSLR and the T1i takes great pictures despite my low photography knowledge. It's fun learning how to take pics with this camera.

Cons: Now I want more lenses.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat camera!!

Pros: If you are looking to step into the Digital SLR game, this camera is a perfect companion for you. I've owned this camera for about 8 months and I absolutely love it!! It has so many features and controls. The only limitation the camera has is your own imagination. High ISO, nice lens, ergonomic controls, the list goes on. There are so many learning resources online for canon cameras, this camera can be your stepping stone towards being a much better photographer.

Cons: Some people complain that the camera only captures 20fps on 1080p. I dont get it, did you buy this camera for 1080p recording or photography??

Other Thoughts: If you can get this camera for around 6 to 700 bucks, go for it!!

1 out of 5 eggsVery bad

Pros: Quality of pictures is good if the camera is working.

Cons: The camera stopped working after 9 months of service. We used it rarely. I've already sent it back to canon 3 times, it comes back and doesn't work more than 1 day. Canon doesn't want to replace it or return money back, they make some repairment which is of no help. I had to buy a new NON-CANON camera becasue canon sucks.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this camera :)

Pros: I bought this camera when it first came out as a requirement for a photography class i was taking. I figured if it was something i really wanted to do, i should spend the money on the best equipment i could afford, and this was it. I have used this camera at least every other day, pushing new ideas and new accessories. i now have a pretty good travel set up that i can bike with and set up on the fly. Combined with an assortment of lenses, there isn't much that this camera can't handle. i would highly recommend it to anyone looking to start or upgrade there camera. Although the T2i is out now, so this new price point is a no brainer :)

Cons: in the year and a half of ownership... not a one

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for the buck

Pros: Loaded with features for the dollar value
Responsive
Good stock lens

Cons: Auto modes are ok - weak ISO setting for auto

Other Thoughts: It should be understood this camera is not a point and shoot. That being said, the photographer get's the best results from this camera when using manual settings. For the dollar amount, this camera gives you tons of features. My wife and I did several months of research and this body came out the victor. We purchased the 50-250mm IS lens package... which was perfect.

If you are entry level or even an intermediate photographer, this body should give you plenty of functionality. Every photographer I've spoken with tells me the same thing - get a decent body and then spend your money on good lenses.

This is the decent body. Get it.
