5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Camera!

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: Takes awesome images! It supports a super-fast high speed shooting mode, has an amazing customizable auto-focus system and supports different settings based on the physical orientation of the camera (portrait or landscape for instance.) Great viewfinder that auto-illuminates the overlay display in low light conditions. Very good shots at extremely high-ISO without anywhere near as much noise as my last camera. Customizable menu for those options you change most.

Cons: BIggest con? Kit lenses. I wish I'd bought this without the kit lenses because it didn't take long for me to purchase pro grade lenses that covered those zoom levels. The kit lenses aren't bad, but they are consumer grade lenses.

Only does 3 shot auto-bracketing, but there's workarounds for doing 6 shot bracketing for HDR work.

You MUST study how to use this camera - if you just take it out of the box and expect it to work like a point and shoot you'll be sorely disappointed. The auto-focus options alone are enough to confuse the novice. I've owned it for months and still learn something new every photo shoot.

Other Thoughts: To the user who said the picture quality is horrible, I say you didn't bother to learn how to use the camera and did it all wrong. I upgraded from an Oly E-510 set and found this to be as more complicated than the Oly DSLR as the Oly DSLR was to a point and shoot. There's a ton of online videos out there to teach you how to use it, I recommend everyone do that.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: initially I was considering DSLR between 7D and 60D. Almost bought 60D because that flip LCD looked so cool!! also same 18 MP, but after considering body construction and shooting speed, I decided to go with 7D. after using it, now I am convinced that I've made a right decision. bought 3 other lens, waiting to get an additional 35mm 1.4L lens which will be so nice!!

Cons: hmmm if you are loaded go with 5D? just few hundred $ difference at right timing.

Other Thoughts: might be little heavy depends on a person. I'm big young guy, so I actually like its heaviness.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Camera

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: The camera is really good, I would say that the canon lens technology overtook Nikon, to 90% Great photo quality, highly advanced features that help us create a photo is almost perfect gentlemen we are talking about 18 megapixel, Wahoo , to me is phenomenal, really Canon is ahead of many cameras, thanks

Cons: The cons, I think that very few, the weight of the camera, is a bit heavy, and the price I think it should cost $ 2 dollars less, but I'm happy with this camera, thanks Newegg.com

Other Thoughts: the price

1 out of 5 eggsLackluster Image Quality

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: Great build quality. Heavy sturdy camera.

Cons: Lackluster image quality. For the money, this camera is a huge disappointment. I have a huge problem with over-exposure and poor image sharpness. I upgraded from a Sony Alpha DLSR and I must say, I pulled better images from the Sony than I ever have with this 7D. I purchased a 70-300mm and a Prime 50mm lens for this camera and the images are just not that great. I am beginning to wonder if this camera has some issues.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat camera as good as it gets for APS-C sensors

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: Great build quality
Great auto focus
Wireless ability for external flashes
Awesome 1080p HD video
Great button layout with the ability to customize their functions

I upgraded from a Rebel XSI and there is no comparsion in any area. The 7D is built like a tank and handles great it doesn't feel lost with bigger "L" lenses. I'm not easy on my gear and this thing can take it. When you need the shot to be good and can't afford the 1 series this is the camera to get. The AF speed and FPS are as good as it gets outside the 1 series. I've shot in 100% humidity and 90+ temps to 0 degrees and snow its never let me down or missed a shot. Weddings, action, portraits, landscapes it can do it all. Impressive ISO range and video ability in dark places.

Cons: Crop sensor (I wish Canon would make a full frame with this AF system and FPS rate in a small body)

The locking mode dial button now being offered on the 60D and as a retrofit for the 7D (you have to pay) should have been standard.

Can't keep up with the 5DmkII in overall resolution and High ISO performance (but its wokring with a smaller sensor)

Relocation of the on/off switch prevents one handed power up when speed is critical, its not a huge deal but requires retraining your brain when coming from the rebel series.

Other Thoughts: I would reccommend this camera to any one looking for an up-grade from a rebel or older X0d Canon. If you can't or don't want to spend the money on a 1 series, but need speed and AF that you can't get with the 5dmkII this is the one to get.

I can't say enough about the responsiveness and performance of this camera

5 out of 5 eggsLovin It

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: Really nice build quality. I really like having all of the features and available on the body, rather than being hidden in the menu settings. Picture quality is outstanding. Camera is extremely quick!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just ordered a Canon EF-S 10-22mm wide angle lens to go with this puppy. Can't wait. Stepped up from a Canon T1i

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I Need

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: Excellent AF, 100% viewfinder, wireless flash sync, long battery life, great build quality, etc. This camera has everything I need.

Cons: None --> went on sale about a month after I purchased it?

Other Thoughts: I've used this camera in extreme dust, some rain/wind, and have had no issues. It's bullet proof.

5 out of 5 eggsClear facts

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: A fine DSLR camera

Cons: Not a full frame DSLR camera

Other Thoughts: I just want to provide a correction to "Joe in Texas", in case anyone bases their purchase upon his review. This is NOT a full frame camera. The 7D is a APS-C, which has an inherent "crop factor" of 1.6

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D 3814B010 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera w/ EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Pros: It's a CANON Full frame. Theres not much else to say. Anyone who enjoys the Canon product line will be impressed with this camera. I went with the 28-135 lens as it had better reviews than the other ones.

Cons: No lens hoods included
