4 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: Takes great pictures, especially with the 28 MM lense. The wide angle pictures in nature are fantasic. Also, the HD video is quite good for a hand held, but you better have a steady hand. A steal at $129.

Cons: I got three black spots that started to appear in the picture after 5 months. I returned the camera to Canon and a repalcement is in route. Took less than a week.

3 out of 5 eggsFollow-up: Camera lens won't retract after 3 months

Pros: Just a follow-up on the issue of "Camera lens won't retract after 3 months". I sent it back to Canon Service Center, and within 10 days - that's pretty good service and turnaround. They sent back a refurbished but seemly working camera, except I had a black one, and I received a silver replacement.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsCamera lens won't retract after 3 months

Pros: Good price, good name and good track record for me.

Cons: The lens won't retract anymore in less than 3 months with little use. Checked Canon website and other internet sources, the most reliable way to solve this problem is to send it back to Canon. So I did.

Other Thoughts: After so many years of being a happy Canon Digital SLR customer, I have never anticipated this type of problem. To me this seems to be a design flaw. Maybe should have gone to Sony or Panasonic's "mechanical slider lens cap" design instead.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome P&S Camera

Pros: Photo's rival that of our 7D. CA is VERY low, crisp and sharp. Modes allow a lot of customization, or just point and shoot. Tough/rugged.

Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Power button is hard to activate (but doesn't get turned on accidentally either)

Other Thoughts: Buy an extended cap battery and install a screen protector on it.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST DEAL EVER

Pros: Amazing little camera. Takes about as much space as my cellphone, but REALLY does a great job. So many cameras these days brag about their 14 megapixels, but they don't tell you that you also need a lens big enough to let light into those 14 megapixels. Cannon does just that. They give you a nice big lens and they give you 14 megapixels too. I was amazed at how well the pictures came out. One other amazing thing was that even when you use the 16x DIGITAL zoom, the pictures look pretty dang good. Most cameras brag about the digital zoom but it's pixelated to death. Cannon got it right and this is an AWESOME camera. It comes with its own rechargeable battery pack and charger. I found that you can get replacement batteries for it 2 for $6.00 at e-baih. So I'm set. The battery pack lasts a LONG time. It says 250+ pictures on one charge, and takes just 1.5 hours to charge. GREAT CAMERA !!! I got one for my son, now I'm going to buy another one for me.

Cons: The buttons are a bit small and hard to get used to at first, but are easy to use once you realize you need to use your thumbnail instead of the pad of your fingers.

Other Thoughts: Just buy this camera. It's the best deal you'll find and it has ALL the picture quality you will ever need. Lots of neat features that just knock all the competition out of the game.

3 out of 5 eggsNice camera in good lighting

Pros: Small size
Video capture
Camera case
Manual mode

Cons: Auto mode
Blurry low light pictures even with flash
(Not good for Disney World)
Vertical streaks on LCD display when shooting with bright background light
Slow to focus
(Missed shots)

Other Thoughts: Rather than purchase a new battery for our beloved old SD400 Elph, we purchased this camera thinking it would be an upgrade. Sadly, the old 5MP camera consistently takes better pictures than this disappointment.

Sometimes, I am able to get a better pictures with my Droid Incredible.

After reading the other reviews, I am sure we just got a dud.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: I sold it online after purchasing for $144.00 here on NewEgg

Cons: If you are familiar with recent offerings from Canon's digital (point & shoot) product lines, you would
probably think, “How can I go wrong with a Canon?” Think again… This camera is a joke. It should be marketed as a toy. Picture quality is terrible! My wife and I have owned several different Canon Digital Cameras since 2002. The SD1400 IS is a slap in the face to loyal Canon customers.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera; Great Price!

Pros: Small, Sleek and GREAT pictures out of the box in auto mode! I have to try out the other modes a little better than just in the livingroom, so I cant comment, but auto mode is really all you need. I have been shooting everything in sight and the battery is witholding one charge. Video is decent quality for a point and shoot camera that is not sold as a video camera.

Cons: The buttons on the back may hinder easy use for someone with large hands. I would handle this camera before purchase and decide if they are too small for you. From my SD1100, there is a difference, so I am getting used to it, but I am petite, so it should be comfortable to me in no time.

Other Thoughts: I replaced my SD1100 with this one for the better video camera capabilities and more zoom. Plus my SD1100 was a little too bulky, so this should be great in a small bag for concerts, weddings and other events. This one is as thin as my iPhone, but smaller in length. Great camera for a great price! Thanks newegg.com!
