The PowerShot SD1400 IS digital camera boasts a 14.1-megapixel image sensor for brilliant photos that stay sharp even when you crop or enlarge, and an impressive set of features so it's easy to make the best of every photo op! You can also use the SD1400 IS to shoot 720p AVI movies when you want to capture life in action. With 4x optical zoom, you'll be able to get into the action, even from the sidelines!
When you get home, you can print your photos directly from the camera or download them. The PowerShot SD1400 IS camera gives you sharp pictures with brilliant color, even if you're new to digital photography.
Pros: The picture quality is amazing. The Auto Mode has been working great so far and chooses settings that produce great color and clarity. The HD video recording is great as well. Keep in mind 720 refers to the resolution, and while it looks great and rivals my miniDV camcorder, it won't look like something recorded with a $400 HD camcorder.
The size of this thing is one of the reasons I spent the extra money over the SD1300IS. It fits perfectly in my pocket. In dimension, it is about the size of a credit card! I plan on taking this on a hiking trip this summer and it's good to have something compact that won't get in the way.
The 4x zoom on a camera this tiny is pretty impressive, and you can also set it to widescreen mode!
The large, vivid LCD lets you get a very good idea of what you're shooting and how it will come out.
Battery life is great as well.
Cons: The buttons are flush with the body, which means it will take some time getting used to pushing them. Someone with thick or calloused fingers may have some difficulty operating them at first.
While this is not a con for me personally, the camera does not have a viewfinder. I initially thought it was a negative point, but then I thought about how often I actually used a viewfinder on either a camera or camcorder before. Not an issue for me.
The battery cover seems a little fragile, so be careful with swinging it open. The cover for the cable outputs (USB and mini-HDMI) is a bit still, and I was afraid at first that it would break when I opened it all the way, but it seems it will become more flexible with more use.
Other Thoughts: This is an overall amazing camera. Best one I've ever owned, in fact. If you're looking for a camera that you can easily bring anywhere and take great pictures with, this is the one!

Pros: More fatures than you may know what to do with. Will allow auto mode (works so well you may never go manual), Program Mode (if you know what you are doing) and Video Mode which is the best I have ever used. Has no view finder but LCD screen on Normal is well visable in daylight but can be made brighter! Has many function that will make you say "What was that" even has a picture in pricture on Facial Recognition so you focus the right person.
Cons: None. Just make sure you want a camera this small and that you know there's no view finder.
Other Thoughts: I was waiting for the 12 MP model that was on sale from another company who, after 2 months, still hasn't delivered. This model came out just in time, is NOT made in China and is super high quality. I still can't belive it is this small and my wife wants to steal it. Has impresed everyone that I have shown it to. I have their D40 Rebel SLR which I love but this camera is so handy and replaced my 7 meg olympus without a hitch.

Pros: This camera is sleek, "beauty in black" As usual the quality of pictures is amazing for such a small camera. The auto mode works very well (even if I didn't try to challenge it too much so far)
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Will update this post later when I'll have time to play a little more with this camera. Can't wait to give a try to the video recording features !!
