Put your photography on the cutting edge with easy, intuitive access to features. The SD4500 also incorporates full HD 1920 x 1080 video shooting capability plus HDMI output connector for easy playback of HD video and photos on your HDTV.

Additionally, advanced Smart AUTO intelligently manages an expanded, diverse array of shooting situations for stills and videos, so you can focus on composition and creativity.

  • newegg 10x Optical Zoom With a high-powered 10x Optical Zoom in a slim, stylish camera body, the Canon PowerShot SD4500 IS brings far-away objects up close for exceptionally sharp, clear images.
  • newegg Canon HS SYSTEM The Canon PowerShot SD4500IS employs the Canon HS SYSTEM by combining a high-sensitivity 10.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor and Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor to deliver spectacular images with minimal noise. Beautiful low light shots are possible at both low and high ISO speeds, and the dynamic range is expanded to retain maximum detail in highlight and shadow areas.
  • newegg Full HD Shooting and Playback via HDMI The Canon PowerShot SD4500IS is capable of recording video in uncompromising Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels at 24 fps). The camera also makes it easy to enjoy HD videos (and still photos) on your HDTV with a mini-HDMI connector for direct connection to a high-definition TV monitor.
  • newegg Advanced Smart AUTO Canon’s advanced Smart AUTO intelligently analyzes your situation and shooting conditions, and then automatically selects an appropriate setting from 28 specially defined settings. So you're always ready for whatever shot comes your way to get dramatic, memorable images.
  • newegg Super Slow Motion Movie and High-Speed Burst The Canon PowerShot SD4500 IS sports Super Slow Motion Movie function which shoots your clips at high speed (approx. 240fps) and plays them back at 30fps for the inimitable super slow motion feeling you'll love. High Speed Burst mode shoots continuously at high speed (approx. 8.8fps), helping you capture the best possible shot within a moment of fast-moving action, such as kids in motion, wildlife and any situation with unpredictable movement.
  • newegg New Features like Best Image Selection and Handheld Night Scene Working in conjunction with the camera's continuous shooting function, the camera shoots 5 successive images, and then analyzes movement and facial expressions to pick the best shot. Handheld Night Scene uses optical image stabilization combined with electronic image composition to help you capture beautiful night shots without a tripod and without the blur and noise typical in nighttime shooting.

4 out of 5 eggsAs Good As it Gets

Pros: HD Video in 1080, 10X Optical Zoom, Low Light Shooting, HDMI output, Slow motion video, Best Select Mode, I could on....

Cons: Heres a few things I didnt know before I purchased: The HD movie records in Motion Jpeg (M-JPEG) not H.264 which is not a problem except with compatibility and file size. The HD files are huge but will a very fast and easy file converter set to "Pass Through", you'll have managible and smaller H.264 files. Focusing can be an issue with this camera. Ive had all Canons in the past and praise them all but this one takes a little while to focus during movie mode and the smart focus doesnt always work when taking pictures. Oh and buy another battery (cheap one) as it will use up a battery faster than most.

Other Thoughts: Other reviews have nailed this camera for battery life. That is such a small problem and I wouldnt worry at all with two batteries. This is an EXCELLENT camera for the price, the size, the ease of use. All the little extras are worth the few cons. You'll be happy you bought it, I am.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: Nice Zoom. Compact. Same basic menu/function interface as my last Canon (sd1100)

Cons: A little slow. Battery life could be better. A lot of features are added that you will never use.

Other Thoughts: I think the battery life is no-big-deal. How often do you not end up overnight somewhere you can charge the camera? For me, if it lasts thru 1 session (usually a hockey game) then all is good. Really, doesnt 150 shots get you thru a day?
Anyway, it is a little slower than my 1100 was. The zoom makes up for it.
For me convenience was the seller. I wanted something with a 10x zoom that could fit in my pocket. And seriously, I know it is all about technique, but I am taking better pictures than all the moms and dads with their huge lens cameras:)
Experiment and use the P Mode...

2 out of 5 eggsI got a lemon

Pros: Good pictures and video. Fast delivery by Newegg (as usual).

Cons: Very bad battery life. More importantly, had to send mine in for repairs after 1 month because the lens kept getting stuck in the open position and the LCD had vertical 'snow'. Stop working completely after 1 month. Bad, bad, bad especially when you are trying to capture those priceless moments.

Other Thoughts: I'm hoping to get a new rather than repaired camera back. If I get a new one, I will be better able to review its capabilities.
