5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding little point-and-shoot

Pros: I've been doing photography for a few years with my previous Canon 350D and just recently upgraded to a Nikon D3100 DSLR with a few lenses, such as the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G, 35-135mm 3.5-4.5D, and a 50mm f/1.8D. Even though this little A4000 won't compete against my D3100 paired with those lenses, it is very portable when I need it to take a really quick snapshot and does the job nicely even for a point-and-shoot. I just need something light and not as big as DSLR with a large zoom lens.

I have my settings set to P mode and manual ISO (the most manual it can get). ISO performance at 1600 still looks useable even with a teeny-tiny sensor with 16MP crammed into it. Noise would be a lot better if camera manufacturers did not squeeze so many MP's into these tiny little sensors. I'd be more happier if this camera had a 7MP sensor instead.

But the reason why they make these 16MP/18MP/22MP point-and-shoot cameras is just to fool consumers who think that the more MP's a camera has, the better it is... these camera manufacturers are doing a bloody good job at fooling consumers this way.

Because it has such a small sensor, the bokeh isn't all that great when compared to a DSLR. But it does much better than the previous point-and-shoot cameras I've owned so this is a real plus.

The rechargeable battery was able to last me a few hundred shots without flash, which is very impressive even for a battery with 680mAh.

Cons: Not any major flaws with this camera at all. Everything just seems to work, although I would like to see a full mode dial on these point-and-shoot cameras sometime in the future.

Other Thoughts: You see, this society is so corrupted by today's technology advancements. The previous reviewer mentioned they got blurry photo's with this camera and want to exchange it for a different camera. As a matter of fact, I hear that one a lot.

I bet that reviewer had no idea how to use a camera because a person who has done photography for years would still be able to shoot a better picture with a lego camera than a person using a Canon 5D MkIII who knows absolutely nothing on how to use a camera. But really, it is all about who is behind the camera.

You know what they say, "the camera is only as smart as the person using it".
