The PowerShot A1300 digital camera gives you Smart AUTO – sophisticated Canon technology that makes getting that great shot as simple as pressing the shutter button. This high level of resolution is ideal for creating the largest prints, and allows you the flexibility to blow up and crop any section of an image to express your creativity. The DIGIC 4 Image Processor powers the camera’s advanced systems and features, ensuring fast, reliable performance with low battery consumption.
5X Optical Zoom with 28mm Wide-Angle lens delivers stunning images Despite its slim profile, the PowerShot A1300 houses a powerful Genuine Canon 5x Optical Zoom Lens that delivers outstanding optical performance and versatility. The zoom starts at 28mm wide-angle and extends to 140mm telephoto (35mm equivalent), covering a wide and highly useful range. The telephoto reach gives you the freedom to capture subjects from afar, while the 28mm wide-angle makes it easy to shoot sweeping landscapes, large groups of people and tall buildings.
Say Goodbye to Blur Digital IS beats the blur that mars many shots by recognizing the main subject, then automatically applying the camera shake correction that best suits the situation. If the subject is a person, blur reduction processing is performed. For landscapes, cityscapes and other still scenes, the camera takes 3 quick successive shots and composes them into a single clear image. If the subject is moving, the camera takes 3 successive shots, then automatically saves the clearest image.

Pros: Excellent point and shoot camera that has a optical viewfinder that is almost impossible to find on a sub $100 camera. Picture quality is excellent for web publishing. I've got over 600 shots using rechargeable AA batteries. Ignore reviewer comments on image stabilization. This camera has digital image stabilization and not OIS as stated in Newegg's features. Digital IS is for fast moving objects and not for shaky hands. Since the camera has an excellent grip and only 5x zoom there is not that much need for OIS although it would be nice to have but not necesary for most users. Reviewer's beef should be with Newegg and not Canon. Excellent camera for those bright sunny days where you want a simple shot and your LCD screen makes it hard to frame.
Cons: Does not have OIS and picture quality not good enough for large enlargements but you shouldn't expect those features from a sub $100 camera. I picked mine up for less than $70 on a coupon sale.

Tech Level: 4/5
Rating: 3/5Misleading Image Stabilization
Pros: Size. Takes regular AA batteries. Lens cover when off.
Cons: Image stabilization does NOT and will NOT function on every type of pre-set shot mode AND has to be set each time you turn on the camera.
Other Thoughts: I paid an extra $40 just for IS. The product descriptions available online and in the owner's manual do not make it clear that image stabilization is a separate pre-set shooting mode and you cannot use any other mode when in IS. I bought this for my mother who has very shaky hands but wanted a point & shoot. I'm very disappointed in Canon.
