  • newegg A Smarter Camera Means Better Photos Photographers of all levels appreciate a camera – especially a go-anywhere compact digital – that takes the hassle out of capturing beautiful images. The PowerShot A810 gives you Smart AUTO – sophisticated Canon technology that makes getting that great shot as simple as pressing the shutter button. Smart AUTO automatically detects scenes by assessing various factors in both the background and the subject. Detected scenes are analyzed using 32 predefined shooting situations. The camera then makes optimal settings to ensure the best possible image capture when shooting still images. Smart AUTO also includes Advanced Subject Detection, which allows the camera to detect and track non-human moving subjects like animals and vehicles. With Smart AUTO, all you have to do is frame your shot and capture away.
  • newegg Shoot brilliant 720p HD video with a dedicated movie button You can shoot high definition video anytime, anywhere right from the pocket-sized PowerShot A810 digital camera. With a simple push of the dedicated movie button, you'll be able to instantly record every moment in motion. 720p HD video is smooth, vivid, and beautifully lifelike, making it an ideal way to capture special memories. • newegg A 16.0 Megapixel Image Sensor with DIGIC 4 Image Processor for exceptional performance With the camera’s 16.0 Megapixels of resolution, your images are rich and clear, with textures and tiny details faithfully reproduced even at the long end of the big 5x Optical Zoom. This high level of resolution is ideal for creating the largest prints, and allows you the flexibility to blow up and crop any section of an image to express your creativity. The DIGIC 4 Image Processor powers the camera's advanced systems and features, ensuring fast, reliable performance with low battery consumption.
  • newegg 5X Optical Zoom with 28mm Wide-Angle lens delivers stunning images Despite its slim profile, the PowerShot A810 digital camera houses a powerful Genuine Canon 5x Optical Zoom Lens that delivers outstanding optical performance and versatility. The zoom starts at 28mm wide-angle and extends to 140mm telephoto (35mm equivalent), covering a wide and highly useful range. The telephoto reach gives you the freedom to capture subjects from afar, while the 28mm wide-angle makes it easy to shoot sweeping landscapes, large groups of people and tall buildings.
  • newegg Say Goodbye to Blur Digital IS beats the blur that mars many shots by recognizing the main subject, then automatically applying the camera shake correction that best suits the situation. If the subject is a person, blur reduction processing is performed. For landscapes, cityscapes and other still scenes, the camera takes 3 quick successive shots and composes them into a single clear image. If the subject is moving, the camera takes 3 successive shots, then automatically saves the clearest image.
  • newegg Spectacular Effects Made Easy You ’ll be surprised at how easy it is to create upscale photographic effects with the PowerShot A810 digital camera's Scene Modes. No special lenses are necessary, just a one-step camera setting. Scene Modes include Fisheye Effect for the classic convex distortion; Toy Camera Effect that recreates the toy or pinhole camera look; and Monochrome that adds a distinct single-tone effect to your photos.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Cannon past point and shoots. They have been good on past purchases. No pros for this camera. Same slow action. I was seeking a newer camera that might process pics a little faster

Cons: Its is difficult to hold with one hand as your fingers get in the way of sensors because its too thin. The settings are impossible to get to in the new firmware set up and changes to the hardware options on the top of the camera. Long flash Charge time. Poor processing. Broke in first 4 months. Freaks out in low light.

Other Thoughts: Usually good cameras. Usally very durable. I have dropped them, Jammed the lens in just pulling it back out, and never had exposure issues. This one is garbage NOT to Canon standards.

1 out of 5 eggsLove Newegg

Pros: Newegg is the greatest. Canon would not do anything about the plastic battery door that broke after one week of ownership except to offer to sell us a new camera.

Newegg stepped up and sent us a brand new camera
I will continue to buy from Newegg and recommend them to my friends. They are wonderful people, have honor and moral values, and are obviously the people to do business with. No reason to go anywhere else. Every reason to shop at Newegg.

Cons: Obviously Canon will does not honor their warranty. We will never buy anything Canon again. And we tell all of our friends about our experience.

Other Thoughts: Every company can goof up and make a bad product. It is how they stand behind what they do that makes a difference. In this case, it is a very good camera. Takes wonderful pictures. Easy to use. They just need to redesign the battery door, one that is not weak and breaks. And then they need to offer a new one to all owners. Not a big deal, and smart in the long run.

Their refusal to stand behind their mistake shows their lack of honor and foresight. I will never buy anything Canon again.

Also, if you look at many reviews on Newegg, you will see that good companies append onto complaints that they are sorry and to please contact them and they will make it right. You do not see that in this case.

Newegg going above and beyond their responsibility clearly shows what kind of people they are. Just having a place for customer comments shows that they want their customers to know about the items and experiences. Having a customer service department that listens and works with people is great.

I am a Newegg customer for life. I recommend them to all who will listen.

1 out of 5 eggsNice camera but worthless warranty

Pros: Nice Camera, takes good pictures, uses normal batteries, not some expensive unique lithium battery.

Cons: They take a good camera and put it in a cheap plastic body. I had it for one week and then the little plastic door that holds the batteries in cracked and split. I made a mistake and contacted Canon instead of Newegg. I should have returned it and bought a camera in a metal case, there are many. I returned it to Canon and a week later they sent me an email that they want $81.18 to repair the camera. In other words, they make a cheap plastic camera and their warranty is that they will sell me another one.
Wrong. Newegg, please help. I want a camera that has a real warranty. I will never buy anything Canon again if this is how they honor their warranty and treat their customers.

Other Thoughts: Do not ever buy a plastic camera or anything made by Canon.
A warranty tells you what a company thinks of their own product. And they obviously do not think much of this camera.
I believe that plastic can be strong, but they need to use a better grade resin and put in some reinforcing ribs. As it is, it is doomed to fail. An honorable company would do a recall and install a better battery door.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for what it is

Pros: -low price
-small size and light weight
-big LCD screen
-extremely simple button layout
-good auto focus and exposure performance
-uses standard AA batteries - no worries about forgetting to charge it / losing the charger

I purchased this camera to be the general office camera for a NPO organization. We need a general camera to give to interns to document projects. After our Nikon D90 was 'mysteriously' damaged several different times it became obvious that any sort of expensive camera should never be handed off to an intern.

Cons: -very little optical zoom
-no manual settings at all
-no force flash setting - its either no flash or auto flash
-no AV output options (but who actually uses them?)
-auto adjustments are a little slow - sometimes you can miss that 'perfect moment' while waiting for the thing to focus
-battery and memory card share the same door - with the door open to take out the card there is nothing to hold in the batteries. It is easy for them to fall out when you open the door to take out the card. I would have been nice to have the card under a separate door

The total lack of manual settings is very limiting, but it doesn't matter that much for what we need the camera for. It actually helps to prevent issues caused by inexperienced users attempting to fiddle with settings.

Other Thoughts: At the regular price it is not that great of a deal. But I got it when Newegg ran a sale for $20 less plus a free 8GB SD card. At that price it is perfect, and expendable should another mysterious intern related accident take place.

I have used probably hundreds of digital cameras over the years from entry level to professional. This camera performs as well as as some of the entry level professional cameras (in full auto mode) plus at, 16mp it takes higher resolution photos than most pro cameras from just a few years ago. BUT this is still an entry level camera. There are literally no manual settings that can be adjusted, it is full auto - full time. This means that it is not great for even slightly challenging shooting conditions like low light.

I read that the market for low end digital cameras has dried up and most manufacturers are going to stop making them. This is a shame because with this camera the ultra-cheep digital camera has finally been perfected.
