3 out of 5 eggsAging line

Pros: I bought this camera more than a year ago -- same price and came with same zoom lens. I like it for what it is, but -slow, sometimes inaccurate AF, lots of pixels, but small sensor so the pixels are small and consequently noisy; can't have high resolution and low noise on a small sensor, just two of the three, and as you increase any of them, pixel count, pixel + sensor size, low light image quality, you also have a higher price and larger size cameras. This is one set of compromises: all cameras have compromises, so you should understand your needs and budget before you buy the wrong shiny-thing and then complain because it's not the right tool or bauble. I use inexpensive 64GB Class 10 / 90Mb/s (up to) PNY cards. Under 40 buckos each, the only failure they've had are that SD cards are small and easy to lose. This camera is small and has full manual mode. Most settings have to be sought in menus and since I am a Nikon person, the little symbols are mostly inscrutable to me, but I've learned how to do most of what I want -- but because in menus, it's slow to operate. Quality in bright light is good to very good, but does not beat my Nikon D3. OTOH, the D3 does not do video (this one does 1080/HD video, but only for like 29minutes -- then it gets really hot and also has a hard coded time limit.)

Cons: Small sensor means noise in images and poor to bad low light performance. This is an old model, there is now an EOS-M2 (or II), that adds a few features but is not sold in the US. It was double the price, but this one is grey market ... sooo..... I paid the same price over a year ago and I think they don't make these anymore and as grey market they would not have a warranty: so this must be NOS and you better really trust the sub-vendor.

Other Thoughts: Small, cheap, good quality in the right light, and adaptable to lots of different lenses -- most only can be used in a manual focusing mode but still....

5 out of 5 eggsI'm not a professional but I love this!

Pros: First off I must say that i'm just a normal consumer and I picked this up here for 300 bucks!
This is the first camera I've ever bought.
Now to the pros:
-Excellent pictures of course! I'll try and post links to some pics taken with this.
-Lightweight
-Many features!
-Has a manual focus which is simply amazing!
-Great battery life (im not sure what is standard) but ive taken over 500 photos already today and I just got this out of the box 5 hours ago and i still have full bars! I even too 7 videos! Read below about the vids though

Cons: Now onto the cons - KEEP IN MIND I'm just a stupid consumer, I'm a computer guy and I'm interested in photography so I got this to start me out. These are the things that I noticed. I just got this camera today and have shot about 500 pics already.

-First off i didnt take any eggs off. i was about to because of this, but then i thought HEY this is a camera meant for still pictures, videos are just a bonus! But this is what my issue is. Maybe its because of my SD card, but when i try to take videos they only record for 17 seconds flat.

-when doing AF+MF(auto focus and manual focus) and this is both at the same time, its a feature! :D you need to lightly press the button that you press to take pictures and hold it at the point when the box turns green and then you can rotate the precision focus cylinder on your lens to focus. It's very difficult while holding the camera. :(

- decent speed on AF, again im new to cameras so i dont know what slow is, but its certainly not SSD fast ;)

-it doesn't like to autofocus on things that are REALLY close, you need to manually focus on them for that.

Other Thoughts: Demonstration of picture quality! 1: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g5zh7gfgl0as6a8/IMG_0018.JPG
2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cs2qjz91q0sehvb/IMG_0057.JPG

ENJOY! I really am glad i finally bought a camera and im glad it was this one!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect B "SLR"

Pros: This thing takes better photos than my 50D and is much more quiet. I bought this specifically because it did not have a mirror. Perfect for taking more inconspicuous photos.

I laugh as the camera is smaller than an EF 50mm 1.8 and it's even more hilarious looking with an EF 70-300 attached with the adapter.

Cons: No viewfinder, but it doesn't have a mirror. Slow Auto focus, has more difficulty with EF and EF-S lenses than the M mount included with the camera.
You have to kind of fight with it if you want to AF + MF at the same time.

Need a really fast SD card to get acceptable write times.

There's no 60p recording or 4:2:2 color sampling, but what do expect for 300 dollars?

Other Thoughts: There's no warranty from Canon, but do you really need one? I have NEVER had a piece of Canon equipment to fail on me, except for an EF-S lens that I dropped on concrete; it's aperture finally gave up 5 years after dropping it. I'm expecting to get at least 300,000 clicks out of this since it's shutter and mirror-less.

If you're any kind of serious about SLR photography you MUST have this body with the adapter. I will never carry just one camera anymore.

You just can't beat an extra "SLR" body for ~450 bucks.

4 out of 5 eggsI'm so happy I have this camera

Pros: Small size, low light capability, superb kit lens, and APS-C size sensor

Cons: No viewfinder, slow AF, no built-in flash and strap holder is proprietary. Also this item is a gray market product.

Other Thoughts: I'm coming from a PowerShot G7 so this camera is still an upgrade for me. The AF is on par with my G7, so I;m used to it. Newegg should have indicated that this is a gray market product.

4 out of 5 eggsPurchased from 1Sale but...

Pros: Provides ALL functionality of larger Canon DSLR, mounts ALL Canon EF lenses (EF-M, EF-S, EF) with optional adapter, picture quality very high, movie quality very high, accepts Magic Lantern firmware, stereo microphone input, HDMI and USB output. USB output supports headphones (under Magic Lantern) and allows remote monitoring/control via Android tablet running DSLR controller (Beta)

Cons: Fast auto-focus requires light, do not expect auto-focus to work well in low light.

Other Thoughts: Purchased because one of the least expensive cameras with microphone input. I researched this camera extensively and was STILL blown away by functionality.

Very robust.. 14 y.o. dropped it 4 ft. on concrete Day 1... no damage, no impairment. Another reviewer stated 'There is a bug in the design of the camera that often requires you to detach and reattach the lens before it will release the shutter. This is a known issue but Canon has not issued a fix for it. '. Have never heard of this before this review, have never experienced it.

Purchased the body, EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lenses, and EX90 strobe. Happy with everything, specially given price paid.

5 out of 5 eggsA really great camera

Pros: Very light, compact, takes excellent low light photos, excellent video quality. I used the 22mm lens and the kit zoom lens as well. The camera is very light, fits in your pocket it, and is not tiresome like wearing a huge dslr around your neck. With the most recent firmware, the camera is very speedy. I really like the "touch to focus" method of tapping on the lcd screen. I also really like that when i record video, it does auto tracking on moving objects.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this camera as a portable companion to when I visit amusement parks and concert venues. I found myself getting tired of carrying my dslr and at most venues, they wouldn't allow me to bring in my bigger dslr. I overall really enjoy this camera, because of its compact size, but also because it takes exceptionally well photos and the video is excellent too.

2 out of 5 eggsThis camera has some serious flaws

Pros: Cool little camera. Small, light

Cons: Horrible autofocus, it is both slow and inaccurate. There is a bug in the design of the camera that often requires you to detach and reattach the lens before it will release the shutter. This is a known issue but Canon has not issued a fix for it.
Also, the EOS suite of software is not fully compatible with the camera. Live View through the USB cable to a PC does not work at all, for example. Every other EOS has this function, but there was no mention it was disabled from Canon on this camera.

Other Thoughts: The vendor I bought this from through NewEgg is refusing to RMA it. They dont want to me spend more money through them on a more expensive camera. Avoid the seller Photo-4-Now if you value your pocketbook.

5 out of 5 eggsGambled and won

Pros: Great camera, relatively noob friendly, touchscreen, amazing quality of pictures, the lens base is metal and feels high quality. (same with the 22mm I bought as well, great weight and quality). Touchscreen works well. PRICE: bought this already low priced camera on sale for a fraction of the retail price (about 1/3 of the price) , but I think it takes some pretty amazing pictures that could rival the rebel series. Great bang for the buck.

Cons: Small, the grip might be lacking if you are used to other cameras. Even though the camera might be 'just as good' as some of it's bigger brothers, it looks ridiculously small. Lastly, the reviews for the seller are not all that good, and caused the deal to smell pretty fishy.

Other Thoughts: The product:
I did a lot of research about dslrs and about how to get the best bang for the buck. This camera lives up to all of it's praise that I have heard. This is a great camera for video, and has the same tech in it as the rebel t$i series (or so, I have read). Small build, but amazing power and quality. This camera literally can take pictures of 'junk' that is lying around the house and make it look as if it would be at home in a fancy catalogue. The price for its picture quality and video capabilities makes this camera the perfect fit for me.

The seller (DavisMax):
It came in a box that advertised a flash. I paid for no such thing and I was not shocked when it was not found in the box; However, knowing that 'someone' (other than canon) went trifling through what was advertised as a ' new' camera to steal out (and most likely resell) a flash is worrisome. With that said,... it is a new camera, and appears brand spanking new, along with all of the accessories. This is what I had expected, from reviewing prior reviews about this product from this seller.

But to my happy surprise, the camera I received was in fact the correct color (black), which contradicts most reviews... which is amazing, seeing that the black version of the eos m usually sells for about 20-50 bucks more, mostly because it looks 'more' professional than the red cherry or white plastic looking versions available.

There was 'an adapter' included in this kit. The recharging station that comes with the camera (that fits a single battery) has a slot for a cord to be plugged in. This product came with a long (what I guess to be) european power cord thing, as well as a US style short cord (which I guess to be around 6 or so inches in length- so you might need an extension cord to use it).

No canon warranty card included. However, I have read that if you really get into trouble canon usually is pretty fair about honoring what would normally be the warrenty with the camera (I have also read that even if you don't have the card, the camera still might technically be under warranty).

This is a grey market item, and out of the box, everything is set up for a foreign land far far away. Takes under a minute to change all the setting if you want to.

Shipped in a reasonable timeframe, and packed appropriately.

Other Thoughts:
For video, get as fast of a card as you can afford. I got a SDXC class 10 card. I need to test this theory, but I read that you can only take about 4 gigs worth of video with a normal card, but with a SDXC (eXtended Capacity) card, you can bypass that limitation. The class 10 bit means that the card can be written to very fast, and again will allow you to record video for longer.

I also got the 22mm f/2 prime lens for eos m, and I just love it.

I have not tried its AF, but I mostly plan on using MF anyway.

I took a gamble on this camera because of my current budget (lucky for me I got it when it was on sale), but I am extremely happ

4 out of 5 eggsGood camera at a good price

Pros: -The picture and video quality on this camera are excellent.

- Very small

- lenses are great

Cons: -The auto focus is slow but with a update on the software it is improved

Other Thoughts: Some reviews stated they received a "grey market" camera that was silver, that was not the case for me. I received a black camera as shown in the pics. I ordered this on sale (279.00) from the seller DavisMax on 1/17 and received it on 1/21. Very fast shipping at a great price I would definitely recommend and shop with them again. Are there better mirror-less cameras out there? yes but for the price the canon eos m is a great buy small, durable and takes great quality photos and videos, I wasn't looking to spend alot on this and with the canon eos m I get quality with a good price.

3 out of 5 eggsSilver not Black

Pros: The camera itself is great. A fantastic bargain for the price. The picture quality is essentially equivalent to the bigger Canon SLRs like the 60D, 7D, and/or Rebel. The slow focus is well known. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as bad as I expected. It works extremely well for family photos where the subjects are not moving around so much. It also works decently for movies where DSLRs like the Canon 5D Mark III will focus even slower.

The size and weight of the camera is exactly what I was looking for as an alternative to my 5D Mark III. I had also looked at the Fuji X series as well as the micro 4/3rds, but they would have been way more expensive and a bit larger as well. The Canon EOS M works great as a secondary camera for any Canon photographer.

Cons: It's very disappointing that the camera shipped is silver, not black. It was also shipped in a package that originally contained a 90EX flash, so the seller obviously sold the components separately which explains the low price. The camera was programmed for PAL and not NTSC video by default (25fps instead of 30fps), so I would guess this originated in Europe. Also, the charger requires an awkward cable to plug into the wall to support international plugs as well. I am guessing the normal Canon USA charger uses the normal fold out plug.

Keep these in mind since the low price comes with a bunch of caveats which will affect resale value. If I had known about these issues, I would not have bought this camera here.
