If you want a compact digital camera that offers easy-to-use features, amazing image quality and a slim go-anywhere design, the Fujifilm FinePix HS10 is the camera for you.
The Fujifilm FinePix HS10 incorporates a high-power 30X zoom lens in a slim, stylish body, together with an enhanced selection of automated functions. The generous 3.0" Tilting LCD display allows for convenient framing and reviewing every crucial moment. Designed to make it easy for anyone to master the digital camera's three basic functions - "shooting, viewing and deleting", this camera is simple, fun, and friendly.
10.0 Megapixel Image Sensor The Fujifilm FinePix HS10 features an amazing 10 megapixel effective CMOS to provide profound image detail with unparalleled richness and depth, and the ultimate flexibility in enlarging and cropping shots.
30X Wide-angle Zoom Lens Equipped with a wide angle zoom lens, the Fujifilm FinePix HS10 handles both wide-scene and close-up shots. Get the whole family and lots of friends into one shot at the 24mm wide-angle end, or take extreme close-ups via up to 30X optical zoom capability
3.0 inch Large LCD The Fujifilm FinePix HS10 features a large 3.0-inch Tilting LCD to ensure picture brightness and clarity whether setting up your shot or reviewing results.
Picture Stabilization Technology The Picture Stabilization technology utilizes high sensitivity up to ISO 6400 and fast shutter speed to reduce camera shake, freeze subject movement and improve low light background detail for blur free images.
HD Compatible The Fujifilm FinePix HS10 captures videos in high-definition 1080p format and supports photo shooting in 16:9 aspect ratio for natural playback on HDTVs.
2010 TIPA Award for Best Superzoom Camera The Fujifilm FinePix HS10 offers an extensive feature set that combines a powerful 24-720mm (30x) zoom lens with sophisticated photographic controls, advanced functionality and SLR-like handling and excellent image quality in a single compact, affordable unit.
Cons: Menu is very confusing. Lag time on taking pictures is pretty bad. Take a shot wait. It takes too long to save the .jpg photo file to the SDHC memory even with a new SDHC, HD, Class-4 card. The performance is worst than my olders Finepix câmeras. Some tripod mount block battery access door.
Other Thoughts: I would return it if I could. I won't recommend it. I am going back to my old S 9100.

Rating: 5/5Making the decision easy.
Pros: -Zoom -Battery Life -Manual Zoom -User Controls -Burst Mode -RAW Ability -Full 1080p HD Video -Build Quality -58mm Filter Ability -Usable Viewfinder
Cons: -Display quality is acceptable but poor
-Max exposure time is 30 seconds which is better than most but I would really like it to be longer
Other Thoughts: To help you sort out the mix of reviews on this camera I will make this a simple choice. If you're looking for a step down from a DLSR, buy this camera, if you're looking for a step up from a normal point and shoot, but a different one. I spent a month reviewing which camera to purchase so I was well informed and made the best choice. The negative reviews the HS10 gets is primarily from people wishing it did all of the work for them. In the hands of somebody able to unlock the features (not hard) this camera has to offer it take AMAZING SHOTS!

Rating: 4/5Includes Hardware Features I Prefer
Pros: Raw/Jpg images 1080p HD video (just in case I need it) Flash hot shoe Long zoom range Not locked into proprietary Li-ion battery pack Articulated/tilting LCD (but swivel is better) Threaded barrel to accept lens filters
Cons: Hard to find in my local retail stores Very mixed reviews pro and con Vendors should concentrate on improving picture quality instead of misleading consumers that more pixels = better pictures Deducted 1 egg due to recent pricing roller coaster
Other Thoughts: Get a decent quality flash card to expedite image writing and, at least, a UV filter to protect the lens. Should have bought it before NewEgg jacked with pricing. Prefer giving business to NewEgg, but will have to buy it elsewhere for $339 which is a fair price for its age, features and capabilities. 2011 models should be announced/released soon.

Rating: 5/5AWESOME!!!!
Pros: The zoom is fantastic! HD video comes out crisp, images are vivid, wide angle is great for landscape shots, and the large tilt screen beats out most SLRs. The high speed shooting is great up to the 480fps, I'll continue to have a lot of fun with slowing down time.
Cons: The only thing I am disappointed with is the lack of being able to use an intervalometer. I enjoy doing timelapses and taking 16x9 pictures would save a lot of time batch cropping images. I also would have prefered a battery pack, but I can see the point of universal AAs
Other Thoughts: While it's not a SLR, and will never produce the IQ of a SLR, for the lens and features, it beats out a SLR in value. I'm also going to extremes with it and have ordered a 2x teleconverter, 2.5x macro, and a .45x wide angle to get the fullest range I possibly can.

Rating: 5/5Best Bridge I've Seen
Pros: No camera (especially in this price range) does eveything perfectly, but the HS10 does more things better than anything else I could find after months of searching websites and reviews. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but it was best for my needs. *Amazing zoom ("super-duper" said PopPhoto) *Complete control - from fully auto to fully manual with everything in between - all the priority modes and a couple user pre-sets *Excellent color sensor considering all the other trade-offs - credit the backlit CMOS for this *1080p video is beautiful, and 29 minutes seems plenty for most applications - paid 2 1/2 times for a HD video camera (albeit 3 years ago) that only does 1080i *Low noise at ISO 400 or under for this small sensor *Does simultaneous JPEG + RAW *Hot shoe (allthough without TTL metering) for external flash (now I can finally re-use my old thyristor unit that's 30 years old and I thought was destined for the junk pile!) IN ADDITION to the built-in flash
Cons: As above, everything has trade-offs *JPEG + RAW is very slow (maybe a faster card would help) *HDMI connection requires aftermarket cable which is fairly expensive - my video camera is no bigger than the HS10 and has a full-size HDMI output *USB/AV outs are proprietary (which is a common problem on a LOT of current electronics - cell phone chargers most notably, so if lost or damaged, there's only one place for replacement) *AC adapter, for use in uploading to computer, is also not included, and is probably relatively expensive *As others have noted, electronic manual is not very portable or convenient - but once you learn the camera, who needs it?
Other Thoughts: The Fuji HS10 has a huge feature set for the money and fits my needs best. I do some close-up (macro) stuff and shoot miniatures, so the wide angle depth of field is important to me. But I also want to be ready for Pets, Kids and Sports when the occasions arise. I have yet to fully explore this thing (haven't tried the Panorama mode, which most of the reviews say is far from perfect). But again, it seems like a lot of camera for the money, with a wide range of desirable features and good color fidelity, and something I've not seen anyone else comment on - it's a handsome thing, looks good, nicely proportioned, and it just feels darned good in my hands...

Pros: Very good colors, sharp pictures, effecting Image Stabilization.
Cons: Viewfinder is not that good.
Other Thoughts: It is fast enough for me in focusing and image saving time contrary to what the others are saying.

Rating: 5/5I'm happy
Pros: Fuji Camera Raw is compatible with Adobe Camera Raw 6.2 which is in the Camera Raw plug-in Photoshop CS5.
The HS10 takes simultaneous pics in .JPG and .RAF (RAW)
The HD movies are great.
It uses different types of batteries which is nice. Regular alkaline batteries seem to last fairly well. I haven't tried lithium batteries yet.
It comes with software to process RAW images if you don't have Photoshop CS5, but it is not as powerful as Adobe Camera Raw 6.2
I took some pictures in very low light while sitting around a campfire. I used pro low light and a tripod. They came out like daylight. Very impressive.
Cons: The zoom is manual so for movies it is not good for a smooth zoom, even with a tripod.
To hook it up to your TV with HDMI it needs a special HDMI cable. It's a mini HDMI connection.
Other Thoughts: One of the great things about my purchase this camera was NewEgg Customer Service. Outstanding in every way.

Rating: 3/5Fujifilm HS10/Zeikos Combo
Pros: Excellent features, gives you all the lens you would be buying with a SLR.
Cons: Definately not an SLR, Quality of photos are average, and please don't buy the zeikos combo with this one, its useless.
Other Thoughts: I would suggest buying this if fuji can fix some problems with the camera's image processing capabilities with a firmware update, else wait for the next generation canon SX series instead.

Rating: 2/5Not worth it
Pros: 30 zoom lens AA batteries Nice outdoor pictures
Cons: Full HD movie mode drops frames
Manual zoom feels jerky when adjusting. Not a problem for pictures but for movies it just isn't smooth or practical.
Panoramic mode is very hit and miss (mostly miss) and beings the camera automatically stitches the pictures for you if it messes up you have nothing to go back to.
Lag time on taking pictures is pretty bad. Take a shot wait..
Other Thoughts: I've tried it out for a week now and have owned digital cameras since before they started using memory cards. (first one I had took a floppy disk). So I do know a little bit about digital cameras.
Newegg is charging me a $62.70 restocking fee to return it. So if you want to know how much I didn't like the camera it's worth it to me so I don't have to keep it.
