4 out of 5 eggsOk, pictures and flash work great/

Pros: The pictures are very nice and clear. The flash works great. It has HD video (720p) but beware, when you zoom in and out it cuts off the sound while in the middle of zooming. I use it for standard use, no photography or anything of course. If you are buying this for the video, don't buy it, I would suggest buying a camcorder or DSLR.

Cons: Cuts off sound while in the middle of zooming.

5 out of 5 eggsFor the Grama

Pros: Work and appear form the pictures Emailed by all accounts appears to work great (see below). Low entry price even after adding a SD card, and four AA Eneloop and charger. I liked the fact that it used AA. I'd rather use good Eneloops than have to buy another proprietary battery, and be stuck with nothing if this died.

Cons: Sure it's a factory recondition, but if it works good from the start what’s the chance of it going south after that. plenty worth the price if it does.

Other Thoughts: Grandma is on the laptop and my wife sends pic's and she kept wanting her to reciprocate. It was more unwilling to try another piece of technology, than a money issue. I saw this and figured just send it up “surprise” her and the wife will make her make it go.

5 out of 5 eggsGood snapshooter for semi-serious photographers

Pros: A decent wide-angle lens: For most family happy snaps the problem is getting everyone into the shot. It's actually not a bad lens; casual shots with mine show much less linear distortion than I'd have expected at the price (very mild barrel, evident mostly in straight lines near the edges of the frame). There may be some internal processing to straighten things up. 140mm at the long end is about as long as I can hand-hold with such a small camera - I've never seen the point of super-long lenses on tiny cameras.

Takes AA batteries: Common as muck. Battery life is very good even with cheapo alkalines. Use rechargeables to save money and the environment.

Scene modes aren't horrible: Within the camera's limitations they work pretty well; the portrait mode is super-aggressive, though, like shooting through a fishnet filter.

Decent grip and operational controls: It's easy to hold and fairly easy to use one-handed.

Fast turn-on & shoot.

Grid screen.

Excellent build quality.

Cons: Viewscreen can be hard to see in bright sunlight. Of course, I'm one of those who bemoan the lack of an optical viewfinder, and I'm nearsighted to boot. But some screens are better than others outdoors, and this one falls on the low end of acceptable.

Scene modes lock out exposure compensation: So you can't fine-tune the modes to fit the situation.

Other Thoughts: The advantages to getting a snapshooter that takes AA batteries cannot be overstated. A friend got a camera with a proprietary rechargeable battery and it didn't last a weekend car-camping trip. This camera was just as heavily used, but was still on its first set of alkaline AAs. Even if they had run out, there were plenty of other AAs around (flashlights, lanterns, etc.).

14 megapixels is way overkill on a small sensor. About 10 is all you need, and 6-7 would be even better.

As far as focal lengths, the only thing I'd like better than a 28-140 would be a 24-105 with a bit more speed.

The zoom seems to have about 13 steps. I consistently get more increments going tele-to-wide (12-13) than I get going wide-to-tele (10-11).

Don't use the little viewscreen to evaluate linear distortion - the screen shows tons more than the image will.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera for the Price

Pros: Cheap
A lot of good settings
Great pictures in the right Situation. Amazing closeup shots.

Cons: Bad pictures in the right situation. Flash usually fixes this problem.

Clicking sounds when taking a picture.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if the clicking sound when you take a picture is something that this model of camera does, but I have tested the camera out in many different situations and settings, and it seems to be working properly. It is not really a con, because it doesn't effect the usage of the camera, but it was a cause for concern when I first started using it.

If anyone else has bought this camera, please review and let me know if the Camera makes the same clicking sounds. :)

Overall, it is a really good camera for the price, and is a great point and shoot. Don't expect high end quality, but if you are just taking pictures to post on facebook or other sites, like most people do, this is a great camera.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat little camera...

Pros: Small, compact, easy to use menus. Not an over abundance of buttons on the camera body. Light. Good features.

Cons: Came broken. Turned it on and the camera won't focus. I partially depress the shutter button, I hear the focus working but it never does. It looks as though it's trying to focus on a spec of dust on the lens (very macro). Cleaned the lens and same problem. It is a refurb model but I wish they would have fixed it before they shipped it back out.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to RMA this camera. I'm sure it's a fluke. I've had a camera from this manu. a little while ago and loved it. All I'm looking for is a simple point and shoot with some basic options.
