This review is from: FUJIFILM F750EXR 16228393 White 16.0 MP 20X Optical Zoom Wide Angle Digital Camera
Pros: This camera is highly portable (I carried a case for it with extra batteries in my backpack, but the camera was hardly noticed while in my pants cargo pocket during a hike in Yosemite). The focal distance that you get from this camera and the quality of the pictures with the image stabilization are better than some high end DSLR cameras. Automatic features make this easy to use for quick shots at parties. Easy for beginners with enough advanced features for the experienced. I like the manual flash. It is either on when open or off when closed...no monkeying with settings.
Cons: Even though I have taken this camera hiking, I was concerned about damaging the camera. I read other reviews that this camera line's construction was not as solid as others, but I wanted the focal distance without spending $400 on a lens for my DSLR. The great focal distance is created by the optical extending outward. When the camera is in the off mode it packs down nicely, but when it is on, the motorized lens is not as tight as I would like it. I did have to reboot the camera as it locked up on a couple of my long distance shots. The lens did retract after the reboot, but you do not want to travel with the lens fully extended. I bought extra batteries and had to buy a class 4 SD Card. I am not able to fill the 16GB card before the three batteries need recharging. The on-board memory is only enough to take about 4 or 5 standard shots. When not in use I have a shock and water proof carrying case for the camera. Also, I bought a waterproof case (DiCAPac WP-570). As this case works, I cannot extend the lens to the full optical length in this case and I have not figured out if I can engage the digital focus without fully extending the optical focus.
Other Thoughts: As an amateur photographer from the old SLR film days, (last camera was a Canon A-1), I have had my share of point and shoot cameras. This is my 4th digital point and shoot. I choose to upgrade my point and shoot because the price point of these have dropped lower than what it would cost to add lenses to my DSLR and I didn't really feel like carrying around all that equipment on hikes. I am as happy with the photo quality on some of the pictures taken from this camera as I am with most of the photos on my Canon DSLR. If you are familiar with ISO settings, then you know that you will need good lighting to utilize the quality of the 16MP of this FUJIFILM. I have taken some stellar pics at dusk, but long disitance shots are over in the dark...closeups are good with the manual flash.
