5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: It's expensive. It's not an ultra-portable snapshot cammera. But it takes wonderful pictures. It's complicated to use, but it has all the features you'd want in an SLR, and unlike an SLR you don't risk getting dust on the CCD. It has a couple of focus issues, but put it in spot mode and it works fine. The fact that it also stores 12 bits per channel in RAW mode is also very nice if you want to mess with histograms and curves later.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the best 8MP Around

Comments: In its class these camera handsdown beats the competition. I looked at the canon S1 Pro, Olympus wide zoom, and even the Sony F828 among others. This is the camera I ended up buying. For one, if your looking to shoot raw images, this is the fastest camera if not the only usable one against the competition. The other cameras wrote raw files way too long. I also enjoyed the manual zoom ring on this camera. I have very precise control over how my zoom works. Finally one of the best features about this camera is the anti-shake. It'll save you a bunch of F-Stps and get you the picture you want. Theres so many more features on this camera that I can't list them all. If your looking to buy an 8MP camera right now, GET THIS ONE. You won't be disapointed.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome!

Comments: Having outgrown a sony camera with 2.1MP, I have done many hours of research (well 20 or more actually). I decided on the Dimage A2 for many reasons. First the quality is fantastic. We just love the pictures. This camera does way more than I had hoped and at a price that is acceptable without having to fork over the big bucks. All I can really say is that NEWEGG has a great price on this camera. Keep in mind this is just my opinion. I can see now I am returning to the hobby of photography.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Buy this camera. In March just as these were coming out I had the fever to get a digital camera of this type. I bought the Minolta A1 which was about $350 cheaper than the A2 at the time. I love it. But if I were buying now I'd most certainly get the A2. If only for the excellent viewfinder. Also I'm actually using the video capability and the A2 has better resolution here. I looked at all of the major brands including Canon and Nikon and picked the Minolta (and I was an Olympus 35mm user).
Get an extra battery and at least 512mb of memory and you can shoot all day!!

4 out of 5 eggsNeeded to upgrade firmware

Comments: I had a lot of problems with focus and flash exposure using firmware 1.0 that came with the camera. I downloaded firmware 1.12u and it has seemed to correct the problems I was having.
