4 out of 5 eggsNot to shabby

Pros: This camera is pretty good for the price. It has clear pictures, decent video, and I really like the 3x zoom. The flash works very well when taking pictures at night, which the last camera I had really lacked. It's easy to upload photos onto the computer and has many settings so you can configure it the way you want

Cons: I didn't think battery life was horrible, but it's not great by any means. I would get about 25-30 pictures and then time to goof off and change settings on it before I had to change batteries.

Other Thoughts: I think for the price this isn't to shabby of a camera. My only wish is that it would come with a lithium ion rechargable, but it still works fine without it. I took it on my trip to Florida and all the pictures turned out fine, even in the bar.

5 out of 5 eggsChunky But Funky!!

Pros: This is a really sweet camera. It comes with loads of features and options that'll make your head spin. It has MANUAL, AUTO, PROGRAM, SCENE modes, etc., and takes above average movies, too. The 2.5 inch LCD is crisp, delivering beautiful playback of your pictures or movies. The camera takes excellent pictures: sharp and colorful. The body is a little chunky but it'll fit in a shirt pocket if you need it to. It also starts up in 1-2 seconds and retracts the lens when you view images on the LCD (very nice feature).

Cons: As everyone else has said: it has lousy battery life on AA Alkaline batteries - but so do ALL digital cameras. I suggest you turn off the AF lamp (it focuses fine in low-light conditions) and and use at least 2500mah Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. The memory card slot is where the battery is located. You also have to download the full manual (in PDF format) from the website as the camera only comes with a basic (and rather thin) start guide. Trust me, you'll need it to learn about all the features. These are really just nits and not major complaints.

Other Thoughts: The SHD lens is sharp for a camera under 100 dollars. It has loads of options and features. Again, the Samsung S730 takes excellent pictures and is very affordable. It's a little chunky but it gets the job done and it's black. What more could you want! Highly recommended. As usual, newegg rocks!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsWith patience and photoshop excellent photos

Pros: Great camera.

Good "value added package" newegg, this is why we love you. The included stand is just right, it's stable, pivotally and rotationally versatile, light, tall, and short. I wouldn't have bought a stand, but I use this one all the time.

Very clear photos, lots of indoor low light shooting. Photos still come out great, after software correction (theGimp). Outdoor colors seem great, not a lot of scenic shooting yet.

Battery life is good, with an exception, below. I know I can shoot 100 no-flash photos (low lcd light), and maybe a lot more. With flash dunno, certainly a lot less.

Cons: Very difficult to AF on black/shiny objects, using macro helps, though. I'm using macro for a lot of general indoor shooting, even for objects 5 feet away, to make my AF work. Photos still look good though.

Stand has been necessary for all my indoor no-flash shooting (even near 300W lights). With stand, all light conditions still come out pretty clear.

Here's an inconvenient bug or defect: my camera will drain while plugged into the computer. If I don't turn the camera on, it's fine, but once I turn it on and connect, it will drain until it's dead. May or may not be the camera's fault.

Color on indoor no-flash pictures is a bit skewed. A red guitar may result in faintly pink walls. There are manual color adjustments in the camera, but I've been touching up in theGimp instead, colors restore nicely.

I'm being picky - those pinkish walls still look great, it's <$100 camera. See my 5*.

Other Thoughts: If you want to capture the spring flower ultracolors that make your heart burst out in song, this camera might disappoint you. I haven't tried that kind of shooting with it yet, though...

Johnhou: are you using NiMH? I tried to use NiCad for a long time, kept thinking my cameras sucked, but my batteries sucked.

5 out of 5 eggsUse Lithium batteries.

Pros: Lots of manual controls, takes really good pictures, easy to use, lots of options.

Cons: As said above eats batteries for lunch, NORNMAL batteries that is, the ones it shipped with lasted 30 shots. I get over 300 pictures with Energizer E2 Lithium batteries (and I have the AF flash on, will try it with it off), aprox ten dollars for a pack of 4. Better yet get Nimh rechargeable Powerex or Sanyo Enloop batteries and a smart charger like the Lacrosse BC-900.

Newegg dose not carry the Sanyo Eneloop, just do a google search.

Other Thoughts: I do not own the S730 but its bigger brother the S1050, it has 10 megapixels 5X optical zoom and a 3" LCD, but beside that identical cameras. For the price the S730 is a good deal, if you want a better camera look at Canons SD850 IS, it gets fantastic reviews, but $150.00 more that this Sanyo.

5 out of 5 eggsBest for the price!!

Pros: I've read some talk about the battery life but I'm using energizer 2500mha rechargeable AA's and I get easily 500 plus pictures per charge. I bough this on a trip to the mountains for a week and took 494 pictures and 6 videos all at highest settings and had to charge it right before I left. The picture quality is terrific too. The options on it have some really great features like the 15 or so settings for the enviornment you're taking pictures in and the square to center your picture.

Cons: Some of the programs on it are kind of hokey. Like the silly background option.

Other Thoughts: I've bought 4 cameras in last 4 years and this one is by far the most durable. I owned one from samsung prior to this and took smewhere in the nieghborhood of 20,000 pics before the flash died and I jsut replaced it. we travel often and the HP and the Sony I had couldn't come close to this. Its a nice Camera and newegg has the best price ofr it that i've seen.

5 out of 5 eggsNice overall

Pros: Excellent view screen, quickly turns on and off, easy to use, excellent pictures for the price.

Cons: Short battery life (I'm going to turn off the AF and see how that works) & limited manual control.

Other Thoughts: I've been very happy with this camera since I've bought it. It's been trouble free and if I can get a pair of batteries to last all day I'll be estatic.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Good battery life with rechargeable batteries. Takes pictures fast [when it doesnt freeze] and is simple to use.

Cons: I bought this camera in July. In August it started freezing up. In October, the flash broke. I had to send it into Samsung to get it repaired. Maybe mine was a dud but it was a major hassle either way.

2 out of 5 eggsBattery Life is the Problem

Pros: Low price
Good quality picture
Easy of use

Cons: Short battery life. Very short.
No matter what type of battery I used. About 20-30 shots. It has a very short battery life. I use rechargeable battery. Pair of battery last about 20 shots. Better to keep an extra pair or two of batter at all times.
Better to keep an extra pair of batter with the camera.

Other Thoughts: Other than battery life, all other functions are good. I guess I can live with short battery life. I always have 4 battery charged and ready for replacement.
