4 out of 5 eggsNice for the price

Pros: 5x optical zoom; lots of useful modes; outdoor shots are sharp and well saturated; fast time between shots; I got about 400 shots between battery charges; Image Stabilization works well.

Cons: Sometimes will show good focus on screen but picture turns out blurry, like most point and shoots indoor photos are often very grainy even when ISO is manually set low, too often, pressing the shutter does not actually release the shutter - this is especially annoying during those times when you REALLY want the camera to operate properly (I had to do a double-take of grandson blowing out candles on birthday cake). Zoom control is awkward. One egg off because you have to charge the battery in the camera (no external charging unit). That means you can't take shots while the battery is charging - a second battery helps but still can't shoot while a battery is charging.

Other Thoughts: This camera was purchased as a cheap pocketable camera to take along with our Sony DLSR and Canon SD790IS. It does not match image quality with either so far, but it does okay for a $120 point and shoot. The camera feels flimsy to me so I don't toss it around like some people do their pocket cameras. In the end, I think I spent my money wisely.

Pros: Nice picture quality and features. Overall good camera for the price.

Cons: The software to transfer pictures sucks, and it's difficult to access your files through explorer.

5 out of 5 eggsCompared to...

Pros: This camera fits neatly in a shirt pocket. It is light, easy to operate and powerful, especially when compared to older compact cameras. It is very easy to operate. This one replaces my 4 year old Olympus FE115 which I paid about $200 for. I paid $119.00 for the SL420 and it is twice the camera. I bought one for myself and one to replace my wife's Cool Pix.

Cons: There are other cameras out there with 12 MP for the same money. If that is a big issue, you might want to look around.

Other Thoughts: The big difference between this camera, my Olympus and my wife's older Pentax Cool Pix is the ease of operation. If you have trouble with this camera you probably have trouble with everything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: Great camera, great pictures.

Cons: Fragile (like most are)

Other Thoughts: Don't drop speakers on this camera - it doesn't appreciate it and makes a cracking noise to protest.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat unit

Pros: * Super easy to use
* Takes fantastic pictures
* Mother-in-law loves it

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Picked this up for my Mother-in-law who has a hard time using the TV remote.

She loves this camera and takes a lot of pictures with the unit.

The camera is as easy to use as I had read it would be!
