5 out of 5 eggsSimply awesome

Comments: I've been using this camera now for over a couple years. I cannot think of another that can come close to it, at this price range. Even the swivel panel will become a feature that you do not want to live without, after using it for all those tough high/low angles. The only negative I can think of is that it's pretty big due to the wonderful large lense, but that just makes sense.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Ordered on Aug 8, 2004 on line direct with, not one single problem. Like the way they keep you advised step by step what is happening with your order. Delivery as promised on Aug 13th, 2004. Seems so far like a wonderful camera. Still learning all its functions. Have had Sonys before, and always have been pleased. It looked awkward as far as its shape, but it is very comfortable and light. Definitely buy a larger memory stick, the 32 MB it comes with, only held about 10 pics. (I also bought a 256MB stick as recommended by other reviews). Im sure once I read the book and learn its functions, it will be a pleasure using this camera.

Comments: One of the best prosumer cameras on the market if not the best in its price range. This camera will take excellent quality photos in "Auto" mode right out of the box and has enough manual settings to keep even a pro happy. It's AF assist beam helps take the best low light shots I have ever seen. It's "Nightframing" mode is unreal. While the F828 is a better camera all around its also over $250 more and at this price point I don't think any other camera can touch it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat camera well worth the money

Comments: This is my second Sony camera and I have been nothing but pleased. This camera has so many features I bought a book to help me get the most out of them. Once you get used to holding the camera it has a very natural feel in your hand. The zoom ring on the lens is a very nice touch. I would recommend a buying a large Memory Stick since this thing will eat through the little one that comes with it at a full 5.0 MP.

5 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT Camera

Comments: I did not purchase this camera from, but I did find it to be the best camera I have ever used. Previously I had used the Niikon SLR's and decided to switch to a digital. This camera offers a VERY NICE zoom capability at an overall 10x. Also, the camera may look a little bulky, but the lens fits right into your hand, and gives you added stability in taking pictures. I have taken hundreds of pictures, and reccomend that with this camera, you purchase a minimum of a 256 mb memory card. The 32 mb allows for very few pictures to be taken at a time. The camera offers multiple features for taking pictures with different lighting conditions. I reccomend that you buy this camera, and you'll see what I am talking about.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, even better than it looks

Comments: I got this camera from Newegg last summer. I have taken about 6000 pictures so far and the quality is superb. This camera looks bulky and a little awkward but is not. The long lens assembly fits perfectly in the hand and is very stable that way. It is also much lighter than it looks. It is about as close to a digital SLR quality as you're going to get in a light easy to use package. It doesn't do intense reds as well as some and photos overall sometimes have a slightly cool look. That is easy to correct in editing if neccesary. In general absolutely gorgeous clear pictures. Get a 256MB or bigger Memory Stick Pro because you'll be taking lots of pics and a tripod so you can take full advantage of this cameras clarity, especially with macro shots. You can get 58mm lens and filters that screw right on, something a lot of digitals won't do. Get a clear UV filter at a minimum to protect the lens.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Camera

Comments: I used Nikon SLR's and a Leica point&shoot for 30 years before taking the plunge to digital, chose the F717 for it's lense, 5MP resolution, and build quality. This camera is so good that I haven't used any of my 35mm cameras since buying the Sony. I'll buy one of the more compact models someday in order to have one that's handier to carry around, but for image quality and features I'm 100% pleased with this camera and would buy it again tomorrow if I had to choose again.

Comments: Wow, what a camera. I showed a friend who has been in the photography business for over 20 years, and he was blown away by this camera. If you are in the market for a digital camera, and have a thick wallet, then get this.
